Chapter: 718
Before Jonathan could respond, his phone rang.
Everyone turned towards the sound of the ringtone.
Ironically, it was the very person they were talking about.
Nikolas was calling.
As soon as Jonathan picked up the call, he could hear the sound of wind rustling, indicating Nikolas was outside.
"Jonathan, my folks want me back home. You seem to be doing alright here, so I think I'll head back to the office and assist Brody."
"Okay, I'll sort out your flight," Jonathan said in a calm tone.
Nikolas lit a cigarette and inhaled deeply. “Why do you speak in such a strange voice? What's going on? Are you with Bethany..."
"She and Aimee at the hospital."
"What? Aimee's there?"
"Yes."
"I'll come over too then."
With that, Nikolas ended the call.
Jonathan tried to call him back, but Nikolas didn't pick up, as if he anticipated what Jonathan wanted to say.
Noticing Jonathan's strange look, Bethany furrowed her brows and asked, "What's the matter?"
"Nikolas is on his way here. I need to have someone intercept him."
“\Why?" Bethany sounded puzzled.
Jonathan glanced at Aimee. Realizing what he was implying, Aimee quickly gestured with her hand and said, “Oh, no, it's okay! I was just teasing Nikolas. It's not that big of a deal. Actually, I wouldn't mind having dinner with him, especially since he's quite good-looking."
“That's reassuring. I was concerned you might be upset."
Jonathan worried that Bethany might feel slighted, thinking he was giving unnecessary preference to his friend.
But Bethany understood that Aimee wasn't one to make a fuss. Besides, Nikolas was quite handsome, and Aimee had always had a weakness for good-looking men. If Nikolas had really crossed a line, Aimee would have come to the hospital and voiced her complaints.
Calling this place a hospital hardly did it justice; it was more like the Bates family's villa.
The medical facilities were state-of-the-art, and they even had chefs.
This was Aimee's first experience of seeing a hospital table Loaded with dishes, each expertly prepared and aromatic. She couldn't help but exclaim, "The lifestyle of the wealthy is truly something beyond my wildest dreams!"
