Chapter: 717
Bethany clicked her tongue, finding it hard to believe. "Aimee was so harsh with him. How could he have even thought that anything like that would be possible between them?"

Jonathan wasn't particularly interested or curious about Nikolas and Aimee.

What he really wanted to know was...

"You're not upset with me over this, are you?" he asked.

Bethany remained silent.

“Don't be upset. Nikolas tends to act impulsively and straightforwardly, as though he's never matured. If he ever bothers your friend, I'll make sure he regrets it."

Seeing his eager eyes, Bethany couldn't resist raising her eyebrows.

"I never said I would blame you. I know my best friend well. She can handle herself."

Aimee had the knack of making Nikolas regret his actions just by giving him a piece of her mind.

When Jonathan mentioned he was offering dinner, Aimee agreed instantly.

Who would turn down a tasty meal?

Moreover, Jonathan showed his earnestness by arranging a ride for her from the hotel.

Upon entering the door, Aimee held some fruits awkwardly and said, “I just stopped by the fruit stand. I don't speak their language, so I picked the fruits I recognized. After all, we shouldn't visit someone empty-handed."

She knew the rules.

Bethany smiled. "I'm not used to you being so formal all of a sudden."

Narrowing her eyes with a smile, Aimee approached the bedside. "Mr. Bates, how are you doing?"

"Okay." Jonathan nodded in response.

"Then I can be at peace. You'll look after Bethany, and I can go back home without worries. Otherwise, my cousin..." Aimee paused before finishing her sentence.

“It's okay. I know he is being nice to Bethany," Jonathan continued smoothly.

Aimee gave an awkward smile and said, "Please don't misunderstand. It's an unrequited love, and Bethany has never accepted him. She only loves you."

"Aimee!" Bethany couldn't bear to hear more of this. Worried that Aimee might say more, she cut in, "Well... Jonathan mentioned sending someone to show you around Wesden. Are you interested?"

Aimee was about to agree, but then she paused. “Who will accompany me? It's not Nikolas, is it?"

"It's not him," Jonathan said with a resigned smile. "Don't worry."

"That's great! I'll explore a bit and then head home! Thank you, Mr. Bates. I appreciate your gesture. Just as long as the guide isn't Nikolas."
