Chapter: 721
"She's leaving soon, indeed."

With his eyes widening, Nikolas asked, "When?"

“Why do you want to know?" Jonathan asked.

“No reason."

“Then don't ask."

Suddenly, Nikolas stood up, pulled a chair beside Jonathan's bed, and sat down. With a thoughtful look, he said, "Jonathan, when I see her, I want to argue with her. But when I can't see her, I feel lost. Could it be that... I'm starting to like her?"

He had never felt this way before, not even with Maddie.

In the past, Nikolas would take a woman to a hotel room if she was willing. When he grew tired, he'd give her money and send her away, fearing she'd pester him afterward. How had things reversed with Aimee?

Jonathan's interactions with Aimee had been limited to constant bickering. Ever since Aimee had disturbed him while he was jerking off last time, her image would intrude on his thoughts constantly.

Now, he felt especially on edge, as if something between them remained unresolved.

"I've never felt this way before," he murmured.

Jonathan's love had always been steadfast and enduring, leaving him inexperienced in these matters.

"You don't understand. I think if I keep in touch with her a bit longer, it might just be her knack for banter that I find amusing. Once I'm back home, surrounded by other attractive women, I'll probably forget all about her!" Nikolas said.

“If that's what you think, then keep your distance," Jonathan advised, his expression growing stern. "If you upset Bethany, don't expect me to support you."

“Are you really my friend, or what?" Nikolas grumbled. “You'd ditch me over a woman!"

Jonathan gave him a sharp look and replied, “There are countless women out there, and yet you had to pick Bethany's closest friend. I don't care about your flings, but steer clear of her."

"But Aimee is the only one who really captures my interest!"

Jonathan's lips pressed together before he asked seriously, “Would you marry her?"

Marry her?

The question alarmed Nikolas!

He had never considered marriage. Why would Jonathan bring it up so suddenly?

“Aren't you rushing things? I barely know her!"

“If she agreed to be with you, would you marry her?"

After a moment's thought, Nikolas shook his head. "No, I find the idea of marriage tedious! It's just two people tying each other down with a marriage certificate, meddling in each other's lives, and being accountable to one another. Just thinking about it gives me a headache."
