Chapter: 724
Bethany's eyes widened, a wry smile playing on her lips. "You really know me well."

“Hardly! Honestly, I feel like shedding tears for you. There's no way you haven't cried," Aimee replied.

Clutching the tissue, Bethany stood up and said, “Aimee, when you return, could you have a word with Jayson? Encourage him to find a girl. I can't keep holding him back."

"That's tougher than toppling the Bates family!" Aimee rolled her eyes dramatically. “Don't worry about him. He knows what he's doing."

"Jayson has done so much for me."

"Do you think Jayson refuses to get a girlfriend because he thinks you're standing against the Bates family and unable to be with Jonathan?"

Bethany nodded. "Yes."

"Don't stress. Jayson gets it! He knows you won't ever love him,"

Aimee assured her. She and Jayson had had talked about it many times.

Jayson was acutely aware that even if Bethany and Jonathan were never to be, she still wouldn't choose him.

"Then why does he still..."

“Because he's as stubborn as a mule. Just like Jonathan," Aimee replied. "Honestly, after my argument with Nikolas today, I think his life is the best. Look at you! Look at Jayson, and even Jonathan. Your lives are tangled in a web of love and hate, but Nikolas is different! His love is like a fleeting breeze, easy to start and quick to end. He flies from one girlfriend to another like a butterfly. He will never lack love in his life."

Aimee had a broad perspective on relationships. She didn't believe in being tethered to one person forever. If something felt wrong, she would sever ties decisively. Sure, she'd occasionally hop into bed with an ex, but she didn't make a habit of it like Nikolas.

But today, after mulling it over, she realized that living a life like Nikolas' had its merits. Having a fixed relationship wasn't that important.

Aimee had once heard that true lovers would never part. If both felt the same, there was no need to define the relationship.

Bethany glanced at Aimee and said, “Don't be swayed by Nikolas. He comes from wealth. Even as a playboy, he has money to burn."

Given Nikolas' lifelong friendship with Jonathan, his family must be high up on the food chain too.

“I'm just pondering it. It could be a fresh outlook on life."

As soon as Aimee finished speaking, she saw a figure sprinting towards them in the distance.

She squinted.

It was Nikolas.

Bethany steeled herself. "If he rubs you the wrong way, I'll fend him off."

"I don't dislike him. You and Jonathan are overreacting! Why should I waste time hating someone who won't matter to me in the future? He's a rich playboy. I'm just a nobody."

As Nikolas approached, he glanced at Aimee and then at Bethany. “Uh... Jonathan asked me to drive Aimee back to the hotel. He said it's not safe for her to go back alone."
