Chapter: 772
But she knew that while avoiding problems Like this might work once or twice, it would only get harder and harder in the future. She couldn't give Jonathan false hopes or let him plan a future that was impossible. He'd be devastated when reality hit.
She had already tasted how bitter it felt to wake up from a beautiful dream.
The next morning, Aimee was roused by the sounds of Nola and Rowan playing outside.
She walked out with tousled hair, stretching herself.
“Why are you up so early?" Aimee asked.
"It's you who got up lat Nola bounded over, grinning and holding out candy that Jayson had bought the day before. Rowan, seated on the sofa with a laptop, glanced up and teased, "If you don't change your habits, you might never get married!"
“Really? Do you know that I could just take your laptop away?"
Aimee playfully reached for it, causing Rowan to clutch the laptop tightly and run off in mock terror.
Jason came out of the kitchen and saw them running around.
"Alright, time for breakfast." He poured milk for everyone and served them toast and fried eggs.
Aimee dashed back to her room to freshen up and returned with a bright smile. "Jayson, you're the best!"
“Finish up quickly. I'll take you back to your parents’ place later."
"Aren't you coming with me?"
Jayson shook his head. “I was planning to, but something urgent came up with a school project. I need to fix it and send it over. Plus, Nola and Rowan tend to feel a bit out of place at your parents' so I'll behind. You can on house, stay pass my regards."
"Okay!" Aimee nodded and began eating her breakfast.
After a while, Jayson let the kids play around the house before heading out with Aimee to her parents’ place.
At the door, Aimee waved energetically, her smile bright. "Jayson, drive safely!"
Jayson returned her wave. "Thanks!"
As she watched Jayson's car disappear down the street, Aimee turned to head inside. Her attention was caught by a flashy sports car nearby.
This community wasn't shabby at all. The apartments used to be very expensive, but the neighborhood had clearly aged.
No one here could have afforded such a high-end sports car.
Aimee's curiosity got the best of her as she peered into the car window once more, and a familiar face caught her eye.
Moving closer, she realized it was Nikolas.
What was he doing here?
