Chapter: 771
"International firms often have intricate setups. They streamline financial reporting across all subsidiaries, at home and abroad, forging direct ties with banks for smoother management."

Bethany nodded, impressed by Jonathan's clarity.

His ideas were always innovative, balancing the company's needs with operational efficiency.

“So, will Bates Group be expanding more into global markets?" Bethany asked, curious.

"That's the direction. There are promising ventures overseas. Would you ever consider leading a project alone?" Jonathan asked, meeting her gaze.

"Me?" Bethany blinked, caught off guard. "No, I can't."

Jonathan said, "When you were at Goldwald Company, the resort project in Westsilver was impressive."

Bethany pouted, "That was Colt's project. I was just supervising and providing support. Bates Group's projects involve so much more—I wouldn't dare take charge."

Jonathan countered, “You'll need to step up sooner or later."

Bethany looked puzzled. “What do you mean?"

Leaning closer, Jonathan whispered, “How can the president's wife not have the skills to handle things on her own?"

President's wife?

Bethany found the title almost ironic.

It didn't seem to fit her.

"I don't see myself in that role."

Jonathan's expression darkened. He looked at her intently and asked, "Aren't you planning to register our marriage once you're back in the country?"

Bethany averted her gaze. “Let's discuss it after you've recovered. It's not important right now."

"How can it not be important?" Jonathan had noticed that whenever their future came up, Bethany would either change the subject or avoid the conversation altogether. “Do you want Nola and Rowan to grow up in an incomplete family?"

“Isn't this pretty complete? Now they have a dad too." Bethany feigned ignorance.

“Bethany, look at me." Jonathan's gaze turned icy.

Bethany recoiled, standing up and hastily walking away. "I need to find Samira to change my bandage. You should rest for a while. We'll talk later."

She hurried out, anxious that Jonathan might follow her.

Once she was outside and shut the door behind her, Bethany leaned against it, gasping for breath.

She was grateful to have dodged another bullet.
