Chapter: 81
She looked as though she wanted to pledge it solemnly, just like she used to in junior high school. Back then, she was sincere and naive, often mistaking jokes for reality.

"How is your background check on the project going?" Jonathan inquired as he began changing his clothes.

Bethany glanced sideways, then jumped out of bed to retrieve the documents she had organized.

“It's nearly complete. There are just a few details left that need more time. I was concerned they might falsify the documents, so I left my phone number when I collected the files. This way, if there's any attempt to alter anything, I'll know immediately."

Jonathan nodded, clearly pleased. "You're doing well."

“Thanks to you for this opportunity."

"Since you're so thankful, could you do one thing for me?" He stopped midway through buttoning his shirt.

Bethany nodded. "What is it?"

"Come meet my family with me this weekend."

Jonathan asked if Bethany would be willing to meet his family.

Bethany immediately thought of the message Maddie had sent to Jonathan.

"I don't think it's a good idea for me to go with you," she said.

She felt uncomfortable.

“Don't worry about it. Just come along. If you prefer not to come inside, you can stay in the car."

It appeared her role was merely to "accompany" him rather than meet his family. Bethany breathed a sigh of relief.

“Alright. Let me know the day beforehand, and I'll adjust my schedule."

Jonathan nodded. Seeing her apprehensive response, he questioned whether it was too soon to take her home.

He simply wanted his mother to get to know Bethany and hoped she would gradually warm up to her.

Throughout the morning, Brody conducted a thorough investigation into SNS.

Bethany sighed, impressed by the caliber of Jonathan's team.

By almost noon, Bethany suddenly recalled her appointment with Jayson.

She sent him an emoji, and he responded right away.

“I was debating whether to reach out first, but I was worried you might be busy."

“I'm free now. We can meet and go over the project in more detail.”
