Chapter: 82
Her statements were always straightforward and unambiguous, leaving no chance for Jayson to misunderstand.

Soon after, Jayson sent Bethany an address.

“Brody, I have a meeting about an interesting project. Would you Like to come along?"

Having spent more time with Brody lately, Bethany noticed his serious exterior masked a warm heart. They had a good rapport.

They were both committed to their jobs and shared similar ambitions.

“I need to visit the industrial and commercial department. I can't make it! But make sure you're back by four this afternoon. You have some discussions pending with the legal department."

Bethany nodded and quickly gathered her things. She then hailed a taxi to the address.

As she traveled, she gazed out the window and sighed, observing the transformation of Brokdon. The old, rundown houses had nearly all been torn down, and replaced by high-rise buildings.

Although she wasn't deeply attached to this place, it was still her hometown and where she had spent her formative school years.

Now, the harsh memories of the past seemed to have faded, and she struggled to recall them clearly.

The taxi pulled over to the side of the road, and the driver handed her a receipt.

Bethany looked at it and noticed the fare was 17 dollars, and the date was August 20th.

She suddenly remembered that Maddie's birthday was in five days.

No wonder Jonathan had asked her to accompany him to his home and wait in the car.

It appeared she was merely a pawn to make Maddie jealous.

Sometimes, she felt the urge to confront Jonathan about his complicated relationship with Maddie. Why were they hurting each other like this? And why drag her, an outsider, into their drama?

With these thoughts swirling, Bethany entered the restaurant, where Jayson was already waiting.

Unlike his typically conservative and formal style, Jayson appeared youthful and vibrant in white sportswear, though his signature gold-rimmed glasses still maintained his usual serious look.

"Order anything you like," Jayson suggested, pushing the menu towards her.

Bethany dismissed the offer with a wave of her hand. "No, I've already eaten."

“Then... shall we get straight to the point?"

She nodded in agreement. “Sure, go ahead."

"Ahem." After a brief pause, Jayson cleared his throat and inhaled deeply. “Do you think... I would make a good boyfriend?"

"Huh?"
