Chapter: 839
This was a lie and a way to avoid the truth.
"Are you upset that I gave Jayson those things?"
"No." Bethany managed a forced smile. "He has looked after your son for a long time. It's right to give him something, but perhaps you gave too much.”
While some gifts could genuinely show gratitude, too many could come off as patronizing.
"To care for Rowan, he hasn't advanced in his career over the years. It's unlikely he could work at Bates Group, and he wouldn't even join. So, I gave him a company."
And were the luxury car and villa not reasonable gifts?

“Don't pressure him to accept them. Jayson has his own way of thinking."
Bethany was concerned that the tension between Jonathan and Jayson might worsen.
“Okay," Jonathan agreed readily.
They arrived at East Shade Bay.
After exiting the car, Bethany looked up at the building with mixed emotions.
Jonathan came up behind her, rested his chin on her shoulder, and said with a smile, "We're home again."
"Yes, we're back again.”
As Bethany entered, she looked up, recalling her first visit here with a nervous admiration for the lavish lifestyle.
Back then, she admired anyone who could capture Jonathan's heart. Yet it turned out that person was herself.
Bethany and Jonathan entered the house hand in hand, finding Nola and Rowan had scattered toys everywhere in their playful frenzy.
Bethany's expression changed instantly, and she reprimanded sharply, "You two, clean up this mess right now!"
Jonathan had always been meticulous about cleanliness.
Seeing their home turned upside down, Bethany couldn't even bring herself to imagine his displeasure.
Without hesitation, she changed her shoes and started tidying up.
Then, suddenly, a warm, firm grip enclosed her wrist.
Jonathan called out, "Nola, Rowan, keep playing. It's alright."
Bethany turned to him, bewildered. "But..."
