Chapter: 849
"What a coincidence, Mr. Bennett. You're also dining at this restaurant." Aimee's smile was tense, her facial muscles seemingly straining.
Nikolas, hands in his pockets, pulled out a cigarette and shielded the flame as he lit it. He took a drag.
“Did you get the new phone?"
“Yes, thank you for replacing my phone."
“Who is he?" Nikolas nodded towards the black Audi.
He wasn't stupid. He had an idea of who the man might be, but he still wanted Aimee to tell him.
Aimee was puzzled over why she was acting so evasive around Nikolas as if she had something to hide. So, she said calmly, "He's my blind date! No, I should say he's my boyfriend now."
"Boyfriend?" Nikolas echoed Aimee's words, then chuckled. "You really don't take anything I say seriously, do you?"
Aimee responded impulsively, "What do you mean?"
He spouted so much nonsense. How could she keep track?
“We still have one more time to sleep together. But now you have a boyfriend. Is that still okay?" Nikolas asked, arching an eyebrow intentionally.
"Absolutely not! I thought I was clear at the restaurant. Unless you're ready to marry me, we're not sleeping together anymore!"
She detested it whenever Nikolas brought up sex.
Silently, Nikolas Lowered his head, lit a cigarette, then tossed it to the ground and crushed it underfoot.
"I have a lot of assets in my name that I can't transfer. Some properties are also in my parents' names. I'll give you half of everything else. What do you say?" He looked up at her, his face intermittently illuminated by the neon lights of the hotpot restaurant, flickering between light and shadow.
Aimee burst out laughing. “Are you trying to negotiate with me?"
“Even half would ensure you live comfortably in this city."
Aimee didn't question that, but she wasn't interested.
"I'm talking about all the assets," she repeated. "And if you break any of our agreements, you get nothing. When I questioned you, I noticed you hesitated, which tells me you don't truly love me. Clearly, I'm not after your property. It was merely a test, and you failed it. Shall we part ways now, okay?"
"I can't do that. What about him?" Nikolas scoffed. “He probably only owns a car and a small apartment. Even if he gave you everything, it wouldn't match one-tenth of what I own!"
Aimee scowled, feeling demeaned.
"Do you think this is some kind of auction? That the highest bidder wins me? Listen, Nikolas, don't think you're better just because you're wealthy. I don't care. Here's my advice: from now on, let's act as if we don't know each other. If we cross paths, don't say a word. We're strangers. And if you trouble me again, I will go to Jonathan!"
Nikolas was left without words.
This was the one threat that truly affected him.
As Aimee turned to leave, Nikolas, quick on his feet with his long legs, caught up to her and grabbed her wrist.
During their struggle, Zeke, who was in the car, noticed the commotion.
He instantly flung the door open and stepped out. "What are you doing? Let go of Aimee!"
A sinking feeling hit Aimee, and she regretted not sending Zeke away earlier. She knew Nikolas wouldn't harm her, but he might lash out at Zeke.
“Don't come over. I'm fine!" Aimee tried to dismiss him, signaling for him to leave.
However, Nikolas, fueled by anger, marched towards Zeke.
Before Zeke could say another word, Nikolas' fist connected, sending him crashing to the ground, his head slamming against the car door.
“Nikolas! Are you fucking crazy?"
Aimee quickly intervened, shoving Nikolas aside to help Zeke up.
Zeke, more of a scholar than a fighter, was no match for Nikolas.
Blood started trickling from his nose.
But Nikolas wasn't finished. He yanked Aimee back and said to Zeke furiously, "No one in this city dares to take my woman!"
