Chapter: 848
"I'm right at the restaurant's entrance. It got too stuffy inside. Just come out here."
"Okay."
Although it struck Zeke as odd that Aimee would leave before they finished their meal, he didn't dwell on it. After ending the call, he grabbed his coat and headed for the entrance.
Unbeknownst to him, Nikolas had overheard his phone conversation.
"Here." Spotting Zeke, Aimee waved to him.
With his car keys in hand, Zeke approached Aimee and asked, “Are you okay? Do you need to see a doctor?"
"It's nothing serious. I just needed some fresh air. It was too stuffy inside." Aimee smiled and gently tugged on Zeke's sleeve.
"Let's get going."
"Okay!"
Zeke blushed at Aimee's unexpected gesture, feeling unusually shy.
They walked towards the car when Aimee glimpsed someone at the restaurant's entrance and saw Nikolas.
He was leaning casually against the doorframe, arms crossed, dressed in black jeans and a matching jacket, watching her intently.
Damn it.
When had Nikolas seen her?
Aimee's expression turned grim, and she quickened her pace.
Zeke, noticing her discomfort, offered his support, saying, “You don't look well. Maybe we should go to the hospital."
"No, let's just get out of here."
Aimee acted as if she hadn't seen Nikolas and hurriedly opened the car door to get in.
Just as she was about to shut the door, a large hand suddenly appeared, gripping the door firmly.
Aimee looked up to find Nikolas squinting at her.
“What's the hurry? Why didn't you greet me? You saw me.”
Zeke glanced at Nikolas, then back at Aimee, asking, “Is this a friend of yours?"
“Oh, yes! This is my friend. Just give me a moment. I'll speak with him quickly, and then we can leave." Aimee offered Zeke a strained smile, then stepped out of the car and shut the door behind her.
Instead of addressing Nikolas right away, Aimee walked a few steps away from the car before she spoke.
