Chapter: 852
She hadn't considered the sting her words could carry.
"Okay."
Nikolas extracted his phone from his pocket and made a call.
The call was picked up quickly. "Nikolas! We're heading to the hospital now. Don't worry!"
"Kent, I want him gone. Make it happen."
Panic took hold of Aimee as she realized the gravity of her claims.
“Nikolas, please, I lied! We've never kissed. Today was our first date. We merely dined together, nothing more."
With a cold snort, Nikolas glanced at her and then said into the phone, “Forget it, Kent. But keep a close eye on himthe man trying to steal my girl. Ensure he's treated well."
Watching Nikolas end his phone call, Aimee let out a sigh of relief.
"Are you concerned about him?" Nikolas asked.
"I should've never gotten involved with a lunatic like you!" She scolded herself for being dazzled by his charm, failing to anticipate the repercussions.
Aimee had hoped Nikolas would understand that their encounter was nothing serious.
“What are you going to do? You can't turn back time." Nikolas strode to his car and ushered Aimee inside. “Come with me.
“No way! I'm going home!"
“Going home? Do you think I'm unaware of your plans? If I leave you here, you'll head straight to the hospital to see that guy, won't you?"
“No, I really am just going home, okay?"
Aimee pounded on the car window, but it was a Rolls-Royce. There was no way she could afford to break it.
Nikolas locked the door and set off for his home.
He hadn't noticed that the nagging irritation that had clung to him all day vanished the moment Aimee stepped into the car.
Late into the night, after Jonathan had drifted off to sleep, Bethany silently slipped out of bed.
She tiptoed into the children's room, and seeing both kids sound asleep, a wave of relief washed over her.
Maybe it was the jet lag, or perhaps sleeping too much on the plane, but Bethany found herself wide awake, unable to sleep despite lying in bed for what felt Like hours.
She moved to the living room and powered up her laptop, ready to tackle the workload Brody had taken over for her.
The projects were originally hers, and with Jonathan not working, handing them off meant Brody was Likely swamped.
