Chapter: 853
As soon as she logged on, she noticed Brody was still active online.
Without hesitation, Bethany sent him a message. "Brody, please get some rest. I'll handle everything from here."
"Bethany, you're still up?" Brody responded almost instantly.
"Yes, the jet lag's keeping me awake. I might as well use this time to sort out these files. You should get some sleep now. You have to go to work tomorrow."
Brody agreed since he was exhausted. "I'm heading to bed now. Don't stress too much. Get some sleep if you're feeling tired. I'll handle everything tomorrow."
"Okay, thanks!" Bethany responded, her fingers swiftly moving over her phone's keyboard.
She ended the chat with Brody and glanced away, only to notice her phone's screen flickering back to life with a new message.
It read, “Did you return to Odonset?" The message came from an anonymous sender, unmistakably B7.
"Yes. How did you know?"
After a brief pause, another message popped up. “Your IP address is in East Shade Bay."
Bethany was taken aback that B7 had tracked her IP address.
Was B7 worried she might run away and refuse to pay the balance?
Soon, another message arrived. "Who's at East Shade Bay? That's a large property in Odonset. Does Jonathan Bates live there?"
Bethany was uncomfortable with her privacy being invaded. She felt disrespected.
But it seemed that B7 had never considered the importance of respecting others.
"This is my privacy," Bethany responded.
“Okay! There's an issue with your USB drive. I need to see you. Meet me at the round turntable in front of East Shade Bay.”
Bethany paused. She unconsciously looked towards the closed door of the master bedroom.
"Now?" She texted back to clarify.
"Yes," B7 replied.
Bethany was reluctant to meet a man in the middle of the night. And B7 had previously made an unsettling suggestion. He had ulterior motives. But he had mentioned a problem with her USB drive.
She felt compelled to consider the possibility that his claim was genuine.
“Can we possibly meet tomorrow? It's quite late now," Bethany proposed.
"I won't be available tomorrow. If you'd prefer not to come, that's fine. I'll pass on this job."
