Chapter: 859
It was a disaster he didn't deserve.

“I took your words seriously." Nikolas lounged with his legs crossed, his foot tapping restlessly. “What do your parents like? I've never met my girlfriend's parents, so I'm not sure what to do."

“What? Are you actually planning to meet my parents?" Aimee frowned, puzzled.

"Of course!" Nikolas raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips.

"Are you trying to keep our marriage a secret? Don't even think about it. What if your parents don't know you're married and set you up with someone else?"

He didn't want his marriage to be kept in the dark.

“Nikolas Bennett!" Aimee's voice rang out sharply.

“Do you want the master bedroom with me or the guest room? Pick one."

Nikolas gestured towards the two rooms.

“I'm leaving! Can't you understand that?"

“I won't let you go. Can't you grasp that?"

Aimee's eyes flicked upward in annoyance, her teeth clenched. "I'1L take the guest room!"

Nikolas nodded. "Good night. Sleep well! My parents will be here early tomorrow."

Aimee was convinced he must be joking. It seemed absurd that someone like Nikolas, known for his playboy ways, could suddenly fall for her and be ready to commit everything just for marriage.

But when she saw his parents waiting in the living room the next morning, her shock was complete.

"Aimee!" Gilda's voice was warm as she waved enthusiastically.

"You're up! Nikolas' dad and I got here early. I hope we didn't wake you."

Aimee stood there, her mouth slightly open, unable to find her voice.

Gilda's smile remained bright as she rose and moved towards her.

"Nikolas has already gone to the office. Before he left, he suggested we visit the bank after you're ready. I've spoken with his father, and it turns out some of Nikolas’ properties can't be transferred. So, we'll turn them into cash and put it into your account. How does that sound?"

Honestly, Aimee found it hard to believe that such a sensible woman could have given birth to Nikolas, who often seemed devoid of common sense.

She composed herself and smiled at Gilda. "Mrs. Bennett, there seems to have been a misunderstanding between Nikolas and me."

"He mentioned it to me." Gilda guided Aimee to sit on the sofa, her voice carrying a hint of resignation. "My son really can be difficult, and I'm sure he's caused you plenty of trouble. It's partly our fault-his father's and mine. We were always too caught up in work and didn't give him enough attention. He was alone overseas for many years, where he picked up bad habits like smoking and drinking. But please, don't worry. He's not a bad person. He just needs to mature a bit."

As she spoke about her son, Gilda sighed. “He told me this morning that he saw you dining with a friend, and then he attacked him. We've scolded him severely and sent someone to the hospital to check on your friend. Once he's done with work, I'll take him there to apologize. Please, don't hold this against him. I hope this incident doesn't ruin your relationship. My son really has taken a liking to you!"
