Chapter: 870
Reaching the play area, Bethany surveyed the scene. Thankfully, it was only an array of toys-no mini castles in sight. That would have necessitated a serious talk with Jonathan about not overindulging the kids.
She appreciated Jonathan's intent to compensate for his busy schedule by lavishing the children with gifts, but they were still too young to understand moderation.
Jonathan wrapped his arms around Bethany from behind. “You're awake. Hungry?"
"Not much." Bethany's appetite was modest at best.
“I'll have the cook prepare something light. You need to eat a bit, or it might upset your stomach."
Bethany nodded, a rare concession. “Okay.”
Meanwhile, Rowan's computer finally displayed "100% complete." He sighed in relief, ready to boast to Jonathan but paused upon seeing his parents embraced.
Rowan curled his lips, turned back to his computer, and muttered, “Spreading your love everywhere, huh?"
Jonathan then instructed the chef to whip up some snacks for Nola and Rowan.
Returning to the children, he asked, “Are you planning on going to the church tomorrow morning?"
Before Nola could respond, Rowan cut in, “No, I'm not going. I still haven't cracked the network password. And why should I go there? I don't want to feel like a third wheel!"
"If Rowan's staying, I'm staying too!" Nola declared with a giggle, wrapping her arms around Rowan's neck.
“Rowan, where did you pick up ‘third wheel'?" Bethany asked, a hint of exasperation in her voice.
“You can learn anything on the Internet."
Bethany was at a loss for words. She realized it was true, which only deepened her concerns.
Before she could voice her worries, Jonathan squeezed her hand and murmured, "Don't fret. I've tailored what Rowan can access online. It's all under control."
“You've managed that too?"
“He's my son. It's my duty to protect him, isn't it?"
Bethany was continually amazed by Jonathan's foresight.
It seemed running a multinational corporation was no small feat; it required not just dedication but also preemptive planning on every front.
Meanwhile, Aimee had to take Nikolas to the hospital.
Zeke had been moved to a premium ward.
Clearly, this was Nikolas’ doing. At least that was something positive.
She brought along fruits and gifts. Zeke's eyes lit up at the sight of her.
