"You fell for Bethany at first sight, right? The only difference is Bethany didn't accept when you were students, but Aimee has said yes to me."

Jonathan was at a loss for words.

“If Bethany had agreed to be your girlfriend back then, would you have dismissed it as too hasty or thoughtless?”

Jonathan wouldn't have thought so. Thus, he found himself without an answer.

“Don't worry. I'm serious this time. I plan to marry her and have two kids, just like Nola and Rowan! Now that you and Bethany have settled down, I need to step up."

Before ending the call, Jonathan cautioned him again. Meanwhile, he heard Bethany speaking to Aimee across the bed.

"Did Nikolas pressure you in any way? Tell me, don't be scared."

After a pause, Aimee replied, "Though he was a bit pushy, I did consent to this willingly.”

“Why the sudden change?"

Bethany remembered Aimee's previous disdain for Nikolas, even bordering on dislike.
