Chapter: 885
“Do they remind you of our time together?"

Bethany laughed. "Many things remind me of you."

Not just the souvenirs from Harvein.

Jonathan stepped closer and embraced her. “Did you think of me during the four years we were apart?"

"You can guess."

"You did," Jonathan said with a knowing smile. "Otherwise, you wouldn't have stayed single."

Bethany looked up at him. “How can you be so sure I didn't meet someone else?"

“I just know." Jonathan's tone was sure. "As long as you weren't with Jayson, no one else stood a chance."

"Why is that?"

“Getting into your heart isn't easy. If it were, I wouldn't have spent so many years trying."

Approaching Bethany, whether as a friend or as a lover, always demanded immense patience and understanding.

She was not one to easily let others in.

In fact, winning her over required immense effort, and even then, success was not assured. Some might label her cold-hearted or excessively cautious, but that was simply her nature.

Nikolas had often urged Jonathan to share all the things he had done for Bethany, believing it would touch her heart and convince her to commit. However, Jonathan never took that route.

He understood it wouldn't be effective.

If he tried to coerce his way into her life, Bethany would Likely withdraw, without pausing to consider any feelings.

“Why did you decide to pursue me, the tough nut?" Bethany sometimes mused if it were any other woman, she would have already fallen deeply for him.

"Because you're the one I want. No one else can take your place."

"Jonathan, you know my history. Sometimes, I struggle with my personality, but it's beyond my control. There are so many fears I harbor, and I can't stop dwelling on them."

Jonathan took her hand in his. "As long as you stay with me, I'll give you whatever you want."

Bethany gazed into Jonathan's eyes. They were filled with sincerity and passion, and there was not a trace of doubt.

For a brief moment, she wanted to reveal what his mother had done to her mother. She wondered how he would respond.

Would his loyalty remain solid?

Yet, she restrained herself.
