Chapter: 895
The incident was a significant blemish on Nikolas' record.

Aimee had no choice but to lower her head in acknowledgment of the difficult situation.

Embarrassed, Nikolas explained, “I swear I didn't know Maddie's true character back then. Her scheming nearly cost me my life. I regret trusting her so deeply.”

“Why did you trust her?" Jayson, not one to be easily fooled, understood the underlying reason. "You had feelings for Maddie, didn't you?"

Nikolas was at a loss for words.

"Aimee, think this through. Do you really want to be with someone like this?" Jayson's tone was direct, causing Aimee to fall silent.

Nikolas felt a surge of panic. He would rather endure a physical beating. Appearing pitiful might sway Jayson to forgive him.

"Answer me!" Jayson demanded, raising his voice.

Startled, Aimee whispered like a guilt-ridden child, “Bethany said she didn't mind."

“So, if Bethany doesn't mind, you think it's okay to be with him? Nikolas failed to win Maddie over, so he turned to you. How can you be okay with that?"

Nikolas responded, "I never pursued Maddie. I swear! I admit I was a bit infatuated with her, but we were mostly just friends. I know she had feelings for Jonathan. I never intended to be with her."

"What about Aimee? When did you start to like her? What are your intentions with her?" Jayson always treated Aimee like a sister. When she moved to Odonset, he even bought her a house. He deeply cared for her.

Gaining Jayson's approval was far tougher than Henson's.

“I truly want to marry Aimee. I'm serious," Nikolas insisted.

“Aimee, do you really trust him?" Jayson turned to her.

Both men awaited her response.

After a brief hesitation, Aimee nodded. "Yes, I believe he's sincere."

Though he clenched his fists, Jayson restrained himself from violence.

His lips twitched as he gritted his teeth and said, "Fine, then I won't interfere. But if you ever part ways, don't come to me. And don't come crying if he hurts you!"

"Jayson!"

“I don't want to hear your promises, Nikolas. Prove you can keep Aimee happy. That's the only way I'll ever trust you."

With that, Jayson turned to leave.

Aimee dashed from behind Nikolas and caught up to Jayson at the stairway, desperate to stop him.

"Jayson! I understand why you're upset. Do you think I've betrayed Bethany? I haven't! I've checked with her repeatedly, and she's okay with me being with Nikolas. If Bethany had any objections, I wouldn't have pursued this."
