Chapter: 896
For Aimee, it wasn't just about Nikolas. She couldn't just forsake her longtime friend for a recent acquaintance.
“Aimee, it's your choice. I won't get involved. I just don't want to see you hurt by someone known for his past."
“Don't worry. I can look after myself. If he breaks his promise, there won't be a second chance." Aimee didn't want to upset Jayson, who mattered a great deal to her. "Please don't be angry. If you're unsure, you can talk to Bethany yourself when she visits her mother's grave tomorrow!"
Taken aback, Jayson paused and then asked, "She's going to the cemetery tomorrow?"
“Yes, that's what Bethany told me. But she's likely going with Jonathan."
Jayson remained silent.
Yet, he knew that Bethany would never take Jonathan to her mother's grave.
The mood in the car was somber as Jonathan and Bethany drove back to East Shade Bay.
Apart from the sounds of Nola and Rowan playing, silence filled the air.
Jonathan had not only prepared for the memorial but also purchased a suitable grave, thinking Bethany might want to relocate her mother there.
But she didn't even want him near her mother's grave.
When the car pulled up at the gates of East Shade Bay, Jonathan exited first with Nola, followed by Rowan and Bethany.
Bethany wanted to speak with Jonathan, but he didn't turn back. Thus, she kept her thoughts to herself.
He led the children to the mini castle and left her alone in the Living room.
Bethany understood that Jonathan was not a man without a temper. He was containing his anger, careful not to unleash it on her.
Seated on the sofa, she pulled out her phone and checked the calendar.
Time flew by, leaving only half the time remaining. Bethany didn't want to spend these final moments in arguments, especially not staying angry until dawn.
So, she changed into pajamas and decided to cook a few dishes herself.
When Jonathan entered, he found Bethany alone at the dining table, offering him a smile.
In that instant, all the gloom and irritation seemed to vanish.
He felt powerless against Bethany.
"I haven't cooked in a while. Would you like to try some?" Bethany handed the fork to him.
As he took his seat, Jonathan noticed a small cut on her hand from the corner of his eye. It seemed like a minor kitchen injury, perhaps from chopping vegetables.
She had been away from the kitchen so long that she almost forgot how to cook.
