Chapter: 905
“Did you come here on your own?"
“Yes, I did."
Jayson gave a friendly wave and said, "In that case, be cautious on your way back. Remember to use a cold compress on your ankle. You wouldn't want it to swell up by tomorrow."
As Bethany got into her car, Jayson smiled and watched her depart.
He knew that Bethany would never bring Jonathan to the cemetery.
In his view, Jonathan was not worthy of visiting her mother's resting place as a son-in-law, despite the fact that he would never actually be one.
Bethany drove back to East Shade Bay, her eyes scanning the area to ensure Jonathan wasn't present.
She observed the black car parked steadily in the garage and felt a sense of relief.
Bethany didn't experience guilt over her actions. Instead, she recognized that Jonathan might feel a pang of sadness upon seeing her arrive with Jayson, given that she hadn't invited him to the cemetery.
She entered the code to unlock the door and walked inside, promptly changing her slippers by the entrance.
Bethany could hear the children’s laughter coming from upstairs, but Jonathan's presence was noticeably absent.
Was he in the bedroom?
Bethany walked into the main bedroom and looked around, but found it empty.
Determined, she went upstairs again, wondering if Jonathan was with the children. Despite her efforts, she couldn't locate him.
“Where's your dad?" Bethany asked Rowan.
"I'm not sure. He came to spend some time with me and my sister, but then he seemed to have something urgent to attend to. He kept checking the time and played with us briefly before he left."
“He didn't mention where he was going?"
Rowan shook his head. "No."
"Alright, you can keep playing. Mommy is going to find Daddy."
Bethany then went downstairs and tried to call Jonathan.
After several rings, someone finally answered the phone. It was Brody.
"HE Bethany. Mr. Bates is currently in a meeting. How can I assist you?"
"Is he at the office?"
"Yes, he is. The meeting might run a bit longer. If you have an urgent matter, you can let me know, and I'll pass the message to Mr. Bates."
