Chapter: 91
Aimee quickly grasped the essence of Bethany's dilemma.

"Yes," Bethany said.

"Then what's there to worry about? Jayson would be perfect for this! I'll call him now."

Just as Aimee was about to hang up, Bethany interrupted, “No! I understand my mother perfectly. She's not one to mince words or hold back criticism."

Bethany was certain her mother would make things difficult for her so -called husband.

She couldn't bear the thought of Jayson enduring such treatment.

That was why she hesitated to involve Jonathan.

What if her mother's harsh words drove him to end their contract?

“It's okay. Jayson won't mind," Aimee said.

“But then I'll feel awful facing him. I've invested so much effort in his project, and I don't want to jeopardize it with personal issues."

"I'll find someone else who might be able to help! Right now, your mother must go through with the surgery. Don't worry about anything else," Aimee insisted, understanding Bethany's stubbornness.

Bethany sighed and said, “Okay, thank you! Just make sure he understands my mother might be quite harsh with him. She could even become physical.”

Marie had slapped her hard today, a clear sign of her fury.

“Don't worry about it. And hey, don't forget to apply some ointment to your cheek. Look after yourself."

"Okay."

After ending the call, Bethany breathed a deep sigh of relief. She was so anxious that she found it impossible to relax until her mother's surgery was completed.

Suddenly, the bedroom door swung open.

Jonathan entered and noticed the mark on her face.

"Did your mother hit you?"

He had quickly put the pieces together.

Instinctively, Bethany covered her face and responded awkwardly, “No. I just had a little accident."

She didn't want her troubles to burden anyone else, believing that neither Jonathan nor anyone else should have to deal with her personal issues.

“If you need anything, just let me know."

He moved towards her steadily, causing Bethany to feel uneasy.
