Chapter: 90
Whenever she was in Brokdon, Bethany liked visiting the seaside at night, particularly when she was troubled and couldn't see a way forward. She always felt the vast ocean helped her find the courage not to flee.

Was she tired?

She had felt exhausted for quite some time.

Yet the issue remained unresolved. She had to persuade her mother to agree to the surgery.

She wasn't sure how long she had been sitting on the beach when she received a call from Jonathan.

“Where are you?"

"I'm at the hospital!"

"Bethany," Jonathan said in a stern tone. “Remember my bodyguards are stationed at the ward."

He was aware of everything.

Bethany had forgotten about that!

"Send me your location. I'll come and get you," he demanded.

He rarely asked many questions. His first instinct was always to be by her side.

Bethany saw a taxi nearby and responded, "No. I'll take a taxi back! It's late. You should get some rest."

She wasn't ready to face Jonathan just yet because she hadn't figured out how to convince him to meet her mother.

After ending the call, Bethany quickly hailed a taxi.

She now treated her relationship with Jonathan as_ strictly professional, always ready to fulfill his requests and be at his beck and call.

She remembered her mother's harsh words, accusing her of shamelessness. If possible, she wanted a different life.

When Bethany walked into the house, she noticed Jonathan hadn't changed out of his business suit yet. He sat at the living room table, engrossed in a video conference-the very image of a corporate leader.

Being a CEO was demanding. Jonathan's meticulous work ethic was a key reason Bates Group maintained its market lead.

Noticing her arrival, Jonathan glanced towards the entrance and signaled her to wait.

Bethany carefully avoided interrupting his meeting. She tiptoed through the living room to the bedroom before making any sound.

After some thought, she decided to call Aimee.

"Aimee, he's the thing: I lied to my mother that I was married and my husband funded her surgery. Now she wants to meet my husband. Could you please find a guy to play my husband?" She didn't mention that she was already married to Jonathan.

"So, you basically need a guy to play your husband for your mom."
