Chapter: 919
She searched the house but couldn't find him.
Had he gone to the cemetery again?
Bethany called Jonathan immediately. He answered quickly and asked, "You're finally up?"
“Where are you?" Bethany asked, feeling a little anxious.
“I'm at the office. I had to push a meeting yesterday, so I had to come in today."
Hearing that he was fine, Bethany felt relieved.
“When will you finish your work?" she asked.
“Do you miss me already?"
“Yes, I do," Bethany admitted, blushing.
Jonathan paused and then said, "The meeting should end in half an hour."
This response left her surprised. "So you are in a meeting right now?" she asked.
“Yes, I'm in the meeting right now."
“Why would you ask me if I missed you while you're in a meeting?"
She could clearly imagine Jonathan sitting in the meeting room, asking such a question over the phone. The others in the meeting must be utterly surprised.
They must be questioning their sanity due to lack of sleep.
After all, Jonathan was famous for his cold, distant demeanor.
"Yes, I did ask. What's wrong with that?" he inquired, sounding genuinely puzzled.
“Just hang up the phone!" Bethany blurted out in embarrassment.
How could he not understand what was wrong with that? Bethany felt utterly mortified.
With a smile, Jonathan suggested, "Why don't you come to the office? You're a director, remember?"
If Jonathan hadn't brought it up, Bethany might have forgotten she still worked at Bates Group.
"Alright, you continue with your meeting. I'll be there shortly," she agreed.
“Okay.”
After ending the call, Bethany touched her cheeks, feeling the warmth of her blush.
