Chapter: 926
"You said I'm different from Jonathan."
Aimee shook her head and explained, “You are different. You should focus on working hard in Bates Group. Jonathan has given you enough freedom."
Nikolas stood up from his chair and walked over to Aimee, taking her hand. “If you want to be the wife of a CEO, I can start my own company!"
He was just lazy. Working for Jonathan allowed him to be free and at ease, but it wasn't because he lacked the ability to run his own business.
Aimee quickly waved her hand and said, “Do you think being a CEO is easy? Look at how busy Jonathan is! Can you handle everything he's been doing?"
Nikolas narrowed his eyes and smiled. "Yes, I can, but I won't have time to spend with you."
"So, you should stay at Bates Group."
"Aimee," Nikolas called her name softly. "Can you work at Bates Group too? Be my secretary so we can be together all day, and you can supervise me all the time!"
Work at Bates Group?
Aimee hesitated briefly before refusing. “Forget it. I'm not capable enough for that."
"You'll be my secretary. I'll decide if you're capable enough! I think you're perfect for the job."
He had the authority to choose his secretary at Bates Group.
"Let's talk about it later."
Aimee knew she couldn't work at Bates Group right now.
The clock was ticking, and Aimee knew her best friend would soon be against Bates Group.
How mortifying it would be if she were to work there!
As if on cue, Bethany's call came through, and they chatted about dinner plans.
Aimee hoped this diversion would let her dodge Nikolas’ probing questions. Yet, as she hung up, his inquisitive eyes remained fixed on her.
"I need to grow and prove myself. I don't want to leverage our relationship to get into Bates Group."
"That's a flimsy excuse! You're hiding something!" Nikolas retorted.
"Then why do you keep pressing the issue?" Aimee snapped back, catching Nikolas off guard.
She tossed him the car keys and said, “Let's go. Bethany and Jonathan are already waiting at the restaurant."
After their meal, Jonathan and Bethany were set to return to Wesden.
Jonathan needed time to recuperate and have Samira check his healing wounds. Bethany, planning to leave Jonathan in Wesden, couldn't bear to part ways in Odonset.
