Bethany pressed her dry lips together and finally spoke after a long pause.

“What a terrifying story! For some reason, it feels like I've fallen into a trap."

Jonathan spread his hands out and admitted, “I confess that I have always wanted you."

Bethany slapped his arm playfully and said, "You can go see Nikolas now. I'll call Aimee back. Let's all have dinner together. Nikolas went to Wesden and stole my best friend, so he owes me."

Jonathan nodded, smiling. “Alright.”

In the office, Nikolas was animatedly discussing the meeting room news with Aimee.

His expressions were highly dramatic.

“I always knew Jonathan loved and spoils Bethany, but I never expected he would abandon all principles!"

Aimee was equally surprised and wished she had been there.

She wanted to see the stunned reactions of the senior executives at Bates Group as they wondered what had happened to their usually stoic CEO.

"Will you answer my calls during meetings as well?" she asked.

"Like Jonathan did today?"

Nikolas thought for a moment and replied, "I'd probably stand up and go outside to take the call. With so many people present, it wouldn't be appropriate for me to answer the phone right there."

Seeing that Aimee remained silent, Nikolas quickly added, “Don't be upset. I promise I will do the same as Jonathan, okay?"

Aimee was speechless at how frightened he Looked.

“Why would I be angry? I fully support your work and agree with what you said. Nikolas, you're different from Jonathan."

Jonathan's actions showed that he loved Bethany so much that he placed her above everything else.

If Nikolas did that, it would mean he was being irresponsible in his career.

"That doesn't sound like a compliment," Nikolas said, pressing his lips together. “Do you think I'm less capable than Jonathan because I'm not the CEO and work for him?"
