Chapter: 937
Jonathan realized there was no point in continuing the conversation with his father.

From his father's words, it was clear he was confident that Bethany would eventually leave. After all, his father only mentioned that they could consider the match for now, rather than insisting on immediate dating.

A few minutes later, as though he feared worsening their strained relationship. Godfrey sent another message to soften the blow. “I have discussed with your mother the matter of avenging Bethany's mother. She has agreed to let you deal with Maddie."

Seeing this, Jonathan responded, "I'll arrange for someone to escort Maddie."

“First, change the kids' surname!" After all, Godfrey was a businessman. He wouldn't act without expecting something in return.

Jonathan scoffed but didn't answer.

It was a matter of endurance now. Whoever lost patience first would lose.

He knew that to his parents, reputation was important. If the media discovered that their grandchildren bore the surname Holt instead of Bates, it would be a significant embarrassment for them.

However, Jonathan himself didn't share this concern. He wasn't bothered by it.

When Bethany returned with breakfast, Jonathan was already immersed in business.

The stitches had been removed, and he shouldn't move around. Rest was necessary. However, Bethany understood that Jonathan was not the type to simply lie down and take it easy.

On the laptop, a man briefed him about a project, the largest planned for the next year. Jonathan looked to break into the electronics industry by launching a new smartphone brand.

Bethany wasn't very familiar with these matters. She felt unqualified to assist with this project.

After some thought, she turned on her computer and logged onto a network technology forum.

The forum was frequented by experts. Although the posts often contained trivial matters, the contributors might be top hackers.

Thinking of these individuals, Bethany's thoughts drifted to B7.

Everyone referred to him by that nickname, and it appeared no one knew his real name. Judging from his looks, Bethany was almost certain he was from her own region.

Finally, Jonathan noticed her.

He set his laptop aside and asked, "Did you get the USB drive that you asked B7 to recover for you?"

"Not yet."

“iihat's on it? Why did you need him to repair it?"

Jonathan had some knowledge in this area. Like many men, he was interested in electronic gadgets and high-tech products.

"Just some documents. It would be a hassle if they were lost."

Jonathan understood that it must be of great significance. Why else would she pay B7 such a high fee to fix it? He also remembered Bethany's urgency to meet B7. She had even agreed to stay overnight at East Shade Bay for the meeting.
