Chapter: 962
She secretly wished that Jonathan would grow disenchanted, perhaps even begin to resent her. She no longer wanted his love.
"Bethany?"
Samira materialized seemingly out of nowhere, standing before her.
Bethany looked up, startled. "Hi, Samira."
“Why are you sitting out here alone? Did something happen between you and Jonathan?" Samira's tone was tinged with concern, hoping for stability rather than conflict between them.
"No, I just needed some fresh air. I don't want to disturb Jonathan while he's working."
After a brief pause, Samira joined her on the bench. "I'm leaving Wesden in a few days.”
"What?"
“Jonathan has requested a male doctor. There's no reason for me to stay. I'll return to my hospital-that's where I belong." Samira managed a smile. "I hope to hear news of your marriage soon."
Then she wouldn't have to hide anymore.
Her parents kept calling her, but she chose not to answer.
As Samira made to leave, Bethany spoke up, halting her. "I'm not marrying Jonathan."
Stunned, Samira turned back. "Why?"
“I might leave Wesden sooner than you."
"I suspected there was a rift between you and Jonathan." Samira sat down again, her voice earnest. "He loves you deeply. It might seem forward for me to say this, but you should feel fortunate to have someone like him."
Jonathan's affection was unmistakable and genuine.
No one could fake that level of sincerity.
Samira believed Bethany shouldn't let petty disputes stand in the way of a relationship with a man like Jonathan, whom many would envy.
“Would you agree to marry into a family responsible for your mother's death?" Bethany asked.
It took Samira a few moments to find her voice again. “You mean..."
"I can only stay in Wesden with Jonathan for one month. That time is almost over," said Bethany.
Samira was still struggling to come to terms with the news. It was overwhelmingly surprising. “Could there be some misunderstanding?"
"I hope there is." Bethany stood, offering Samira a reassuring smile.
“His parents are quite fond of you and would love to see you married to him. Honestly, if you could win Jonathan's affection, I'd support your union."
