Chapter: 965
Even though Nikolas had repeatedly urged her to quit her job and stay home, Aimee was determined not to be dependent on anyone.
"Only $8, 008 a month?"
"With social insurance and housing benefits, it comes to over $10, @00." Aimee smiled, clearly pleased.
Nikolas slouched on the sofa, a pout on his lips. "Why don't you come work at Bates Group as my secretary? Just think of what we could do..."
"Do you ever think about anything else? Something a bit healthier?"
Aimee, lounging beside him, nudged him with her foot.
Nikolas only smiled, grabbing her ankle and pulling her closer. “When you're around, all I can think about is anything but healthy."
“Maybe you should go out and find someone else to match your energy. I'm not sure I can keep up with you alone."
“No, it's you I want," he said, his voice steady.
As Nikolas made to speak again, Aimee quickly raised her hand to stop him.
"I just called my parents and told them about my new job. They've asked me to come home for dinner tonight. So, let's not waste time."
Every time she was with Nikolas, she ended up so worn out that heading home seemed overwhelming.
When he heard that she was leaving, Nikolas’ eyes brightened. "I've got nothing planned tonight either. I'll come with you to meet them."
“What? They didn't invite you."
"But I'm sure they will welcome me. Nikolas began calling his secretary, arranging for gifts to be sent."
Every time Nikolas visited Aimee's parents, he arrived bearing an array of gifts, his hands always full.
It was impossible to fault someone for being so generous.
“I haven't agreed to take you with me yet," Aimee said, her tone firm.
"If you don't agree, then you won't be going.”
Aimee was left speechless.
Nikolas, with his skillful handling of the situation, had effectively silenced her.
That evening, they drove back together under the deepening twilight.
By chance, Henson was returning from the market, his arms heavy with groceries. When he caught sight of Nikolas' flashy car, recognizing it was inevitable.
"Henson! Let me give you a hand." Nikolas burst out of the car and dashed over to Henson, eager to help with the groceries, leaving the car unlocked and wide open.
