Chapter: 998
Everything seemed to be falling apart.

After finishing the cigarette, he tossed it out the window, watching as it disappeared into the night.

He started the engine and drove towards the villa. But halfway there, he slammed on the brakes, grabbed his phone, and dialed Aimee's number, his urgency clear in every movement.

"Hello?"

The silence on the line was only broken by the steady tap of Aimee's keyboard.

"I... I'm stuck at an extra meeting at the office today. I don't know how Long it'll last. You should order something to eat at home. Don't wait up for me."

“What?" Aimee whined, “I've been waiting for you since this morning. I'm starving."

"I'm in a bind here," Nikolas admitted, his voice heavy with frustration. "Jonathan's out, so I'm stuck with this. Honey, once I'm done, I'll get you whatever you want. You can eat something now, or I can order food for you and have the hotel staff deliver it! How about seafood?"

"No! I'm on a diet, so I'll just have something simple. I was just kidding about being hungry. I'll go to the supermarket nearby and pick up some food. I won't let myself get too hungry.”

“Okay," Nikolas replied, guilt lacing his words as he bit his lip.

Aimee blurted, “Wait. Do you know what time you'll be back tonight? If it's going to be late, I want to visit Jayson. You know, he's been angry a lot lately. My mom said he's been locking himself in his room and hasn't come out recently. She asked me to check on him."

“Because of us?"

“Of course not."

Nikolas hesitated, then asked, "Is it because of Bethany?"

"Well, anyway," Aimee said, "Jayson can't match up to Jonathan. He's known that for some time but has been fighting against it."

Nikolas responded, “You can go now. Take any car from the garage. Don't use a taxi; it's not safe."

"Okay," Aimee replied and ended the call.

Nikolas scratched his hair.

Then he sent a message to Siena. "Which hospital?"

Aimee quickly packed up her things, driving straight to Jayson's apartment.

Thinking he would have had something to eat, she didn't bother buying any food.

When she arrived, she parked and rushed up the stairs.

Her knocks were met with silence.

“Jayson! Open the door! Jayson! It's me, Aimee!"
