Chapter: 25

His hand was on the back of my neck as he deepened his kiss.

Rough and soft, he sucked on my lips like something he wanted to eat but tasted first

“OUCH!” I gasped as I tried to put my arm around his neck, but the IV in my hand slipped out and blood flowed out.

“SH*T!!!” He cursed and hurriedly tore off his shirt to bandage my bleeding hand.

I grimaced and winced slightly from the blood loss as well as his deadly kiss.

Feeling a touch on my cheek, I looked up from my bleeding hand to see his locked eyes staring at me “I’m sorry” He said softly and I had to endure the embarrassment because even then I forgot that I was in the hospital.

What are you doing, Gwen! I cursed in my heart!

It wasn’t long before the nurse came into my room and helped put my IV back in.

“Be more careful later, my king” she said as if she knew the reason my IV had come loose.

I felt my face flush with embarrassment but my mate just chuckled without shame.

“Thank you, Laura” He said and she nodded respectfully to him and to me before she left.

The stiff silence after the nurse left haunts the room, I’m at a loss for what to say to him afterward due to the embarrassment of what I did earlier.

Why did I let him kiss me?!

DA**IT!!!

“I claimed you because I realized how st**id and cowardly I was”

I was surprised to hear his words and turned back to meet his eyes that looked serious as he spoke.

“I shouldn’t have hurt you like that…” I didn’t realize my tears were falling as he continued speaking.

“I was a coward…”

He fell silent and let out another long sigh with his eyes closed as if remembering the event hurt him too.

I didn’t dare say anything and just listened to his words.

“And when I tried to find you, I heard that you had gone to the human world to study medicine.”

He was looking for me?

He cupped his hands around my face “I’m sorry, Gwen” He apologized and wiped my tears with his thumbs “I’m sorry for hurting you and coming late”
