He gave his approval by nodding his head.

The doctor gently checked the pulse from my hand and touched my forehead to check my fever before nodding and informing the nurses and my mate of the medicine I still needed to take.

Letting out a long sigh, I closed my eyes as the doctor left my room.

I shouldn’t have been surprised to learn that the Alpha king was taking me to his territory, since the incident happened in my father’s territory made him distrust the security there.

Then what happened to my work there?

or the 1 week that he mentioned earlier?

“What happened to the 1 week I was going to be picked up?” I asked as I heard the sound of a chair being pulled out and felt him sitting next to my bed.

I opened my eyes and looked towards him as he spoke “Gone since anyone dared to sneak up on you in front of my eyes” he said seriously with a locked gaze towards me.

That gaze again….

“You weren’t there, so…”

He interrupted “I should have tightened my guard since announcing you as my mate” he paused and let out a long sigh “And there was Alexa and El who were supposed to take care of you, but we all failed to protect you” I was surprised to see him looking upset as he spoke, as if blaming himself for what happened to me.

All of this has me confused…

He’s confusing me…

“Why?”

“What?” He looked confused by my sudden question.

“Why now suddenly recognize me as your mate?” I asked in detail because I wanted to know the real reason “Why is it different from before?”

He just fell silent and looked at me deeply.

We didn’t speak for a while and just stared at each other.

My heart was beating fast as I stared at this man who was my mate in front of me.

“Can I kiss you?” His question startled me and made me blink a few times to think if I heard him clearly?

What?

“I…”

Before I could answer anything I felt the soft touch of his lips on my lips

My surprise made me stiff when I felt his kiss, but as if there was electricity shooting through me, I couldn’t get angry or resist him, without realizing it I closed my eyes and let out a small moan as he deepened his kiss.
