Chapter: 391
He could still remember the day when Alicia had confessed her love to him. She had been so shy and innocent.

He always believed that her feelings for him were deep and true.

Now, it was painfully obvious that he was mistaken.

It hadn't even been that long since he divorced her, and here she was, already making eyes at another man while sinking into his arms.

A muscle ticked in Joshua's jaw. Frustrated, he raised the cigarette to his lips to take a drag, only to find that it had already burned out.

Gritting his teeth, he flicked it out the window. All at once, rage surged within him, coming from out of nowhere and spiraling out of his control. He banged his fists against the steering wheel, barely managing to stifle an angry yell.

Caden finished his shower and stepped out. He noticed Alicia busy in the kitchen.

"What are you making?" he asked, walking over to stand behind her.

Alicia didn't look up as she responded, "I know it's late, but I suddenly wanted lasagna."

Most of the preparation was already done.

Seeing her like this lifted Caden's mood.

“Why are you going through all this trouble? We could just order in.”

“It's late, and it's cold outside. Most people are probably asleep by now. No one would want to be woken up to make lasagna," Alicia replied.

Caden chuckled softly.

He knew plenty of places would take an order at any hour for the right price.

However, he liked that Alicia wanted to make it herself.

He leaned in a bit closer.

"When did you get the ingredients for this?"

Alicia felt his warm breath and shifted slightly, feeling a bit uneasy. "This afternoon."

Earlier that day, after she cooled down from the argument, she recalled how Jerald scolded Caden and that he hadn't eaten much afterward.

Feeling guilty, she decided to prepare something for him.

She thought lasagna would be the easiest option.

Caden watched her closely. He realized she was thinking about him and made the lasagna for his sake.

Seeing her hands move skillfully over the ingredients stirred something inside him. The urge to help her grew stronger, and he did exactly that.

After washing his hands, he helped Alicia finish making the lasagna.

He chopped the tomatoes with surprising speed and precision, quickly becoming her reliable helper in the kitchen.

“Have you done this before?" Alicia asked.

"No," Caden answered, focusing on the task.

Alicia raised an eyebrow. “How did you get this good, then?"

“I'm quick to pick things up."
