Chapter: 583
Her pulse quickened as she took the gift. "Not at all, Mr. Ward. I am happy you could be here."
Beneath the box, Caden's fingers enveloped hers.
She hesitated.
His long fingers grazed hers with a deftness that sent a thrill coursing through her.
Alicia averted her gaze, withdrawing her hand as she moved away with the gift.
Caden observed the faint blush on her ears and could not help but smile.
Alicia, looking stunning in her elegant attire, radiated charm.
Her gown, a delicate shade of champagne, complemented her graceful silhouette, making her appearance all the more striking.
She exuded an irresistible aura of confidence.
Before long, she was immersed in the festivities once again.
Caden took a sip of his wine, his demeanor unfaltering.
Gerry sidled up to him, grinning. “Did you see that bouquet of roses? Alicia's made it clear she is not looking for anything serious, yet that guy still had the audacity to make a move. He must think pretty highly of himself."
Caden remained unbothered. "And?"
Gerry pressed on, "Do not you feel the slightest hint of competition?"
Caden's gaze drifted to the well-dressed man lingering nearby, casting furtive glances at Alicia.
“Someone Like him stands no chance with Alicia," he replied, his tone steady and assured.
Gerry scoffed, shaking his head.
“Do not get too cocky. People change. What if one day Alicia grows tired of you and seeks something new?"
Caden responded coolly, “You are quite the comedian."
Would Alicia ever tire of him?
He would ensure that was never the case.
A server glided past with a tray of drinks. Caden set his glass down, exchanging a few words with the server.
After receiving some cash from Caden, the server nodded and moved on.
At that moment, Caden's phone buzzed.
After hearing the voice on the other end, he nodded, his demeanor shifting to one of seriousness.
He then made his way outside and drove off.
Once Alicia wrapped up her responsibilities, she scanned the crowd for Caden, but he was nowhere in sight.
Her gaze drifted toward the entrance.
Even his car had disappeared.
Gerry approached her and clarified, "Caden had an urgent matter to attend to at the office and could not stay. You do not need to wait for him to have dinner."
