Chapter: 637
Silence hung between them.
After washing his hands, Caden approached the dining table.
He noticed only an empty bowl waiting there.
It was clear he wasn't expected to share the meal.
His face fell as he opened his takeout and began to eat alone.
Soon, Cade finished eating too.
Alicia collected her dishes and proceeded to wash them. From the corner of his eye, Caden watched her move about the kitchen.
The familiar setting momentarily softened his feelings.
But then, he noticed Alicia dumping the remaining rib soup into the trash.
He frowned. "Did you make any for me?"
Alicia turned to face him.
With a steady gaze, she replied, “I did."
Caden's expression grew more severe. “Why didn't you let me know?" he demanded.
“You didn't ask," she replied. “Moreover, you had already brought dinner. Why would you think about eating my soup?"
Caden remained silent.
The quiet stretched between them.
Alicia then took the leftovers outside to feed the neighborhood strays.
Caden was caught off guard by Alicia's unexpected return. In the midst of disrobing for a bath, the door swung open.
His physique was entirely uncovered, the contours of his muscles undeniably alluring.
A flicker of amusement crossed Alicia's face as her gaze briefly met his, before quickly looking away.
She chided him, "You're not alone here, you know. Show some decency."
With a nonchalant shrug, Caden replied, “Who knew you'd come back?"
The room fell silent between them.
Given Alicia's usual quick exits, her lingering was unexpected.
She maintained her stoic expression, choosing to ignore him.
Caden didn't hesitate. He strode directly toward her.
Alicia, usually so poised, found herself unsettled by his audacity, her eyes darting away to evade his gaze.
He stopped abruptly in front of her, gave a slight pause to heighten the tension, then nonchalantly brushed past her to secure the door.
Alicia stood dumbfounded.
She understood his tactics. He was flaunting his naked body to provoke her, a move so typical of Caden's impudent charm.
