Chapter: 736
Caden frowned as he glanced at their hands.
Before he could react, Alicia withdrew her hand and followed Blake, saying, “Don't mind the madman."
Caden's expression softened.
He completely disregarded the fact that Alicia had just called him a madman.
Just then, his phone buzzed.
Hank said from the other end of the line, his voice filled with seriousness and urgency, "Mr. Ward, Jerald has arrived at the office."
Jerald looked like he had aged a decade in just a few months.
Joshua was imprisoned, and Jerald found out that Joshua and Shelia had conspired to make him ill. Additionally, Shelia had been placed in a mental health facility.
These blows were too much for him to handle.
After the New Year, many key employees had left his company, putting his years of hard work at risk of crumbling. Desperate, he had no choice but to brazenly seek Caden's assistance.
Yet, Jerald still carried himself with a sense of superiority as he sat there.
Caden exited his car.
Jerald scolded him, "I'm your father! I come to see you, and your staff tells me I need an appointment!"
Caden stood firm against the breeze, his stance solid.
In contrast, Jerald looked bent and weak, which made Caden appear even more imposing.
Caden stated bluntly, "The policy at headquarters is that irrelevant individuals cannot enter."
Jerald retorted, "Irrelevant? I'm your father!"
“From the day my mother left, we ended all ties," Caden said, his smile sharp. “So, regardless of what you're here to ask for, I won't feel sorry for you."
Jerald's expression darkened.
He hadn't even shared his request, and Caden was already dismissing him.
He panted with frustration. “Legally, I am your father. You don't get to change that! Do you really want to challenge that in court?"
Caden smiled and said, “I was the one who put Joshua in jail. Would you like to be next?"
Jerald's chest heaved, his anger causing his blood pressure to spike.
He said sternly, “Caden, I am your biological father! Aren't you afraid of karma for treating me this way?"
Caden looked down, his voice cold. "The only retribution I see is yours. You lived off my mother's wealth for decades, forgetting you started as nothing. Every cent of the Yates family's fortune was earned through her efforts. She loved you deeply, yet you betrayed her since your wedding day and lied to her for seven years."
Over the years, Caden had mastered his composure, his voice void of any emotion.
He faced Jerald calmly. "If you genuinely seek my forgiveness today and repent for your past wrongs, perhaps I might show some compassion and assist you. But you've depended on others your entire life. Are you capable of that?"
Seeing the sarcastic expression on Caden's face, Jerald, with eyes reddened by anger, scolded, “How can you blame me for cheating? Your mother always acted so high and mighty, constantly reminding me, directly or indirectly, that I was never good enough for her! A man wants a woman who admires and respects him. Could she ever give me that?"
Caden sneered.
"You lived off the Ward family, enjoying all their privileges. Yet, because your pride was hurt, you plotted with your lover and caused her death."
