Chapter: 773
“Acting Like that will only make you shut the door on me." Caden suggested, pointing out Blake's failures, “Those who only know how to deal with the broken and useless stuff surely will be at a loss when facing an intact door."
Alicia's lips twitched slightly.
She realized Caden was indirectly mocking Blake.
"He's merely being courteous, unlike you, barging in like a thief and justifying the breaking of a lock."
“The bold claim their prizes, while the courteous are met with closed doors. Which would you prefer?"
“I prefer to call the police." Alicia emphasized, “His job, repairing and protecting the cultural relics, is great, so stop mocking him."
Caden sneered, "What you said sounds similar to mine."
Alicia decided it was best not to continue the conversation. Engaging further might just drive her to madness.
She felt drained, and the moment she lay down, her eyelids began to lower.
Caden noticed her exhaustion and stood up. "I'll take a shower. You should get some sleep."
Alicia was slightly taken aback and found herself looking up at him.
Caden undressed, displaying his muscular build.
"So, are you disappointed that I'm not making a move?"
Alicia looked away. “I'd be overjoyed if you just vanished from my view right now."
Caden laughed softly and made his way to the bathroom.
Feeling tense yet exhausted, Alicia fell into a discontinuous sleep.
She experienced a terrifying nightmare.
In the dream, she was caught in a torrential downpour, battling against the wind, while her parents walked ahead without once glancing back at her.
Alicia felt fear and heartache, calling out until they disappeared from sight.
Rainwater choked her, filling her mouth and nose. She tried frantically to expel it, struggling for breath as the sensation of suffocation intensified.
“Ugh.."
Alicia couldn't help but wave her arms around until she caught hold of a furry head.
She abruptly woke up to find a handsome face very close to hers, with a playful tongue exploring her mouth.
She was shocked deeply...
Soon, her fear from the nightmare vanished, replaced swiftly by rage.
Alicia hit Caden across the face.
He relaxed his hold a bit, his voice soft. "Awake?"
Alicia's face was flushed, her breathing uneven.
"If I hadn't woken up, you might have kissed me to death." She tried to scold him, but her tone lacked force after such a kiss. "Who allowed you into my bed?"
Caden avoided the question. "You were shouting for your dad in your sleep, so I came."
