Chapter: 839
Caden pressed his Lips together, his expression unreadable.

“Now answer me," Alicia said anxiously. “Did you agree or not?"

Caden's gaze softened. "I wasn't expecting you to ask such a question, Ms. Bennett. Aren't you supposed to be tough and independent? You refuted anyone who even remotely refers to you as a commodity. What right do I have to make such a decision on your behalf?"

Alicia blinked and finally noticed the twinkle in his eye. He was clearly amused by the situation.

She let out a sigh of relief, only to grumble, “Have you lost your mind, Caden? How can you tease me at a time liek this!"

She kicked him hard in the shin, which earned her a sharp hiss.

“Always so feisty. Handing you over to Corey might be a good idea, after all. I'll just find someone more gentle and obedient."

Alicia grabbed a stack of papers from the table and threw them at his face.

The papers fluttered in the air, hiding the mischievous smile playing on Caden's Lips.

It was a shocking sight to the onlookers - a woman had actually dared to throw something at Caden's face.

They were tempted to stick around and watch the drama unfold, but at the same time, they were terrified of being present at the scene.

Corey was the only one who continued to stare intently, as if he was afraid he might miss something.

The door to another office opened, and Hank sauntered out into the hall. Upon noticing Corey transfixed, he turned in the same direction and glanced over at the conference room.

Inside, Alicia's face was flushed with obvious anger. She looked like she was about to start a huge fight with Caden at any moment.

At least, that was how it appeared to most people. Only Hank knew the truth.

The pesky couple was having their usual banter.

Hank wasn't sure how they could afford to flirt right in front of Corey, but he did know that he couldn't let the man linger for far too long.

He fetched a cup of water from the nearby pantry and walked up to Corey. "Mr. Hampton."

Corey turned, just as Hank slipped and spilled hi cup onto Corey's trousers.

Corey froze and stared in shock.

“Oh, I'm so sorry, Mr. Hampton!" Hank said, pretending to be surprised and frantic. "I meant to offer you some water, but I fumbled at the last minute." He reached out to dab at the wet spot on Corey's pants.

Corey's expression changed, and he shifted to avoid Hank's hand.

"That won't be necessary. I'll handle this myself."

But how was he to do that, exactly? His gray trousers were wet, and so close to the crotch area, too.

Corey cared a great deal about his image, so he was naturally incensed by the incident. He wanted nothing more than to leave as soon as possible.

But before that, he cast yet another glance at the conference room.

At that point, Alicia was on her feet, her wrist caught in Caden's grip.

She was glaring at him, then suddenly slapped him with her free hand.

A collective gasp filled the hallway.

“What is going on?" Hank asked, feigning innocence. "Why are those two fighting?"
