Chapter: 840
As straightforward as the scene was, Corey was still skeptical. "What is the relationship between Mr. Ward and Ms. Bennett?"
Hank continued to play dumb. “I'm not sure. I never pry into Mr. Ward's personal affairs."
When it came to someone as cunning and vicious as Corey, it was best not to reveal one's cards.
And so, Hank embellished his story further. "But those two never got along ever since they were children. Later on, Mr. Ward detested Ms. Bennett even more on account of Mr. Joshua Ward. As for why they're together now... Perhaps for the thrill of it? It's the way of rich people, isn't it?"
Corey looked Hank up and down with narrowed eyes. Then, without another word, he turned on his heel and left.
As soon as he disappeared into the elevator, the lights in the conference room were dimmed. The anti-peeping mode had been activated.
The bold few who had stayed to watch groaned in disappointment.
"What a shame. I wanted to see how Ms. Bennett would deal with Mr. Ward."
“Who's dealing with whom? This is Mr. Ward's company. There's no way he's going to let her off easily.”
“But they're dating, aren't they? Maybe they had a misunderstanding. A lover's quarrel."
“Even if they're having a disagreement, it's not enough reason to resort to violence. Doesn't Ms. Bennett understand how much value men put on their egos? Especially for a man like Mr. Ward!"
"Damn, why is it so quiet? I want to see who won their argument."
Their whispered discussions were interrupted by the sound of a slap coming from the conference room.
It was loud and unmistakable, and they all flinched in unison.
Who got slapped?
“Mr. Ward must have hit Ms. Bennett," a male employee pointed out.
“Only a man could deliver a slap with that much strength."
A female colleague blanched. "That sounded pretty bad just now. Ms. Bennett is probably in serious trouble.”
Meanwhile, inside the conference room, Alicia's pants were pooled at her feet as she bent over the table.
The soft skin of her buttocks was marked by a bright red handprint.
"You're dead, Caden!" she screamed in pain.
Caden had already cut the power to the conference room and locked the door.
The dim lighting in the room masked his expression, but there his desire was evident in his voice. “When? While I'm fucking you senseless?"
Corey had only seen what Caden wanted him to see.
Caden and Alicia had agreed beforehand to put on a show and make people think they were at odds. But Caden never gave her permission to slap him across the face at whim.
They both knew it was a personal vendetta on Alicia's part, and she had really played her cards right.
She struggled now, her bare legs swinging in the air.
Caden pressed his hand against the small of her back and pinned her down. Then he hunched over her from behind.
Alicia was alarmed when she realized that he was deadly serious. "Are you crazy?" she whispered. “We're in the company. Your employees are right outside!"
Unfortunately, her words had no effect on Caden. "Did you think of that when you slapped me earlier?" he countered in a rough voice.
