Chapter: 844
"What do you even want that bitch for?" Yolanda berated him. “You actually offered seven hundred million. Ha! I really underestimated you, you lech!"

Corey groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose. “You're too damn noisy. Men don't like noisy women. If you changed that, maybe Caden would spare a glance at you. Understand?"

Yolanda suddenly swept her arm across the coffee table, knocking everything to the floor. She was livid.

“Why are you being so reserved with your methods, anyway? If Caden doesn't want to let go of Alicia, then make the choice for him and ruin her reputation." Her eyes were wide and crazed as she added, "Hire some thugs and let them have their way with her. Let's see if Caden would even look her way again when he finds out she was used by someone else."

Corey flicked the ash from the tip of his cigarette and gave her a wry look. "You've known Caden since you were children. You should be aware of his nature."

Joshua had made the mistake of kidnapping Alicia once. She wasn't harmed throughout the whole ordeal, but Joshua still ended up blind, crippled, and behind bars.

If Corey did as Yolanda suggested, they would no doubt suffer a much worse fate.

When Yolanda realized this, she only grew even more jealous.

"Besides, Caden is a very cautious man. He has been thriving for years, yet no one managed to get any leverage over him." Corey blew out a puff of smoke. "Even in Jerald's case, he was able to deliver punishment without lifting a finger himself. He has amazing restraint for a man in his position. Oh, but he did lose control with Joshua. Just a little."

Yolanda gnashed her teeth together. "I don't need you to remind me just how much he cares for that bitch, Alicia!"

But Corey wasn't interested in her petty delusions. He was only focused on dealing with the demon that was Caden, once and for all.

On the other side, Caden returned to his apartment and worked late into the night.

He stopped when he felt a migraine coming, and he removed his glasses to rest his eyes.

Then he thought of what was waiting for him in the bedroom. He set aside his pending work and headed to the bathroom for a shower.

When he was done, he found Alicia in front of her dresser, applying her moisturizer and lotion.

Caden inhaled the familiar scent and dried himself with the towel.

"ALL right, you need to stop tempting me. You've been draining me a lot these past few days."

Alicia snorted. "You finally reached your limit, huh? It's karma, and you deserve it."

She padded over to the bed, climbed under the covers, and let out a yawn. “You have nothing to worry about, though. If you're out of commission, I'll just have to find someone better to take over your duties."

Caden jumped in beside her and pulled her into his arms. Sleep was already taking over him, and he couldn't be bothered to respond to her quip.

"I actually think Mr. Hampton isn't that bad," Alicia continued to tease him. "He's not that much older than you, and he seems to have a clean record. So unlike your dastardly ways.

That had Caden laughing. "Do you think Corey is genuinely interested in you? Speaking of cleanliness, he is obsessed with it. In fact, he only sleeps with virgins."

Caden had understood Corey's motive the moment the latter set his eyes on Alicia. After all, he had allotted a solid chunk of his time and resources in pursuit of the lead they had dug up.

Soon, Caden's breathing grew slow and steady, lulling Alicia until they were both asleep.

She woke up the next morning to a familiar, intruding sensation. Her eyes flew open, and sure enough, Caden was hard at work on top of her.

"You..." Alicia croaked.

She tried to struggle, but Caden only pinned her wrists above her head and leaned closer. "Behave. I need to be in the office in half an hour."

Alicia was at a loss. She had actually believed his nonsense, thinking he was too exhausted lately.

She should have known that he would be back to his brutish ways after a night of rest.

Caden finally eased up after all his teasing.
