Chapter: 1746
Rachel followed Dewey to the elevator, which took them down to the underground parking lot.
"Miss Bennet, is everything okay?" Dewey asked with concern, noticing her furrowed brow.
"Yes. I'm fine, just a bit exhausted." Rachel yawned. She had been immersed in project work for the entire day and hadn't eaten properly, leaving her feeling exhausted.
“It'll take us more than an hour to arrive. You might want to catch some sleep on the way," Dewey suggested.
Rachel nodded.
“I appreciate your help earlier."
Dewey felt flattered and waved his hand, smiling.
“Miss Bennet, you misunderstood. Mr. Gibson sent me to find you. Besides, I didn't do anything."
"Is Mr. Gibson actually not feeling well?" Rachel asked.
"Mr. Gibson had a follow-up medical appointment today. He might be too exhausted. Plus, he had a cold and fever recently. I wasn't lying when I mentioned that he wasn't feeling well," Dewey clarified.
As soon as he finished his words, they reached their destination.
The Maybach was parked right outside the elevator. When Rachel sat in, she saw Alberto resting with his eyes closed. She was about to greet him, but she held back her words.
The car moved slowly and eventually departed.
Dewey handed her a bag from the passenger seat.
Only then did Rachel notice the fragrance of the food. There was a lunchbox in the bag.
"Mr. Gibson noticed you didn't eat much. He thought you might be hungry. When we left, he asked me to buy some takeout. Please do enjoy it when you're hungry."
Rachel accepted the bag and glanced at Alberto, who was still napping, seemingly undisturbed by their conversation.
She instinctively clutched the bag a bit tighter.
She suddenly had an impulse.
She wanted to ask Alberto why he treated her so well.
After observing him for a while, Rachel decided not to mention it and remained silent.
Meanwhile, Carson lay on his bed after showering, tossing and turning for several hours. He was on a business trip overseas and was supposed to overcome jet lag, but he couldn't fall asleep.
Eventually, he got up, entered the bathroom, rinsed his face before leaving his bedroom, and grabbed his car keys.
On the stairs, he noticed his grandfather seated on the couch, listening to outdated military news.
