Chapter: 1811
"Mom, my cheek hurts. Is it swollen?" Libby interjected, pouting pitifully.

She had a fair complexion, and Rosa had slapped her with all her strength. Her cheek was significantly swollen.

June couldn't bear to watch that. "Rosa, if you have a problem with me, you better talk to me about it. Why do you have to vent your anger on Libby? I know I've failed to raise you into a good woman over the years but you must remember that you're my daughter. No matter what happens, you must remember to behave yourself. Libby has never been rude or mean to anyone like you."

Rosa glowered at Libby.

The intensity of her stare frightened Libby. She involuntarily looked away, not daring to meet her eyes.

“Oh really? Then, I must admit you've done an exceptional job raising this woman!" Rosa spat sarcastically. “Perhaps you also believe a well-mannered person would hire a murderer."

"Hire a murderer?" June's eyes widened in horror. "What are you saying?"

"If you don't believe my words, why don't you ask your dear daughter?" said Rosa.

June's face turned paler; the color drained from her face. She turned to look at Libby. “Libby, what is Rosa saying?"

“I don't know anything." Libby shook her head fiercely. “Mom, don't you know me at all? Why would I hire a murderer? She is blabbering nonsense. Don't listen to her!"

When June first heard Rosa's words, she doubted Libby for a moment.

However, it didn't last long, for she trusted Libby.

Seeing Libby's tearful eyes, she quickly comforted her, “Libby, I believe you."

Tears streamed down Libby's face.

“What's wrong with you, Rosa? Libby would never do that. Is there some kind of a misunderstanding? Murder isn't trivial! Don't even joke about it. It's sheer nonsense!"

“Misunderstanding?" Rosa sneered. She took out a stack of photos from her bag and threw them at Libby. “If you think it's a misunderstanding, look at these photos and tell me what's going on."

The photos scattered all over the floor.

June bent to pick up one of the photos. Libby looked horrified when she saw the face of the man in the picture.

“What the hell? Isn't this Caiden?" June recognized the man in the driver's seat.

"This afternoon, while Maya and I were waiting at a busy intersection, the traffic lights turned red, and we stopped. Suddenly, a car came screeching down the road, ignoring the traffic signal. The driver didn't slow down and instead accelerated towards us, despite the crowd of pedestrians." Rosa narrated the incident calmly as if they were discussing the weather.

However, it was a planned attack that nearly killed her and her daughter.

June's breathing faltered when she heard that. "The car almost ran into you?"

Realization crossed June's face when she saw the photo in her hand.

Her hands began to tremble. "Rosa... You mean..."
