Chapter: 1814
Her lower lip caught between her teeth, Libby bit down hard.

June's gaze shifted between the plane ticket and Libby's face, her suspicions cementing: Libby had indeed directed Caiden to target Rosa and Maya.

A wave of dizziness overcame June, threatening to topple her any moment.

Libby, defiant, managed only a weak “I don't know..."

“Rosa, perhaps this is all just some..." June couldn't finish the word "misunderstanding," it stuck in her throat. Realization dawned on her; she was the fool here, defending her stepdaughter in front of her biological daughter, all the while spouting lies.

Tears welled in her eyes. Admitting that Libby, her labor of love, could be so duplicitous was beyond her.

"You might claim ignorance about the plane ticket, but surely this check rings a bell." Rosa, anticipating Libby's denials, laid out the evidence meticulously, one piece at a time.

She now slapped a check on top of the ticket, Libby's signature scrawled across it, a sight that struck Libby like a physical blow.

With that signature staring up at her, Libby found herself trapped, unable to muster any defense.

"Mom... I..." Libby's words trailed off as she scrambled for an explanation. "I'm clueless about this whole mess. You have to believe me..."

“Rosa, Libby made a mistake impulsively. She's not grown up enough to understand.

Rosa cut off June with an icy stare directed at Libby, preparing to speak her mind. “You've got two options. Stand in the very spot where Maya and I were nearly run over, and I'll come at you with a car. Eye for an eye; after that, we can put this behind us. Or, I take you to court for provoking violence and attempted murder, charges you can't shake off."

Libby's face turned pale. "No way!"

June was also shocked by Rosa's ruthless demand. "Rosa..."

"If you won't choose, Libby, I will." Rosa took out her phone to call the police.

Libby reached out and attempted to grab the phone from Rosa. Rosa, however, had anticipated this, so she moved out of the way and placed a finger on the dial button. With a gentle swipe of the finger, the call would go through.

"How dare you, Rosa?" Libby said furiously as she stared at the numbers "911" boldly written on the screen.

“Why wouldn't I dare?" Rosa retorted coldly.

There was a loud thump, which interrupted Rosa and Libby. They both turned to the source of the noise.

June was on her knees, staring at Rosa tearfully.

“Rosa, I'm begging you..."

Rosa's grip on her phone tightened unconsciously. She didn't want to hear what June had to say because she already knew what she wanted to say.

June would beg her.

This was the third time June would plead with her.
