Chapter: 1589
Susanna walked over and linked arms with her, Laughing. "Dad just said we'd compliment it regardless. Ha ha."
Kayla gave Matteo a loving look as she took her seat beside him. "You're so sweet."
As the elder, Rodrigo took the main seat at the table, flanked by Matteo and Kayla. Next were Sean and Norah, with Susanna and Phillip beside them.
It was a joyous occasion. Norah, the Supernatural Doctor, had given Rodrigo permission to enjoy some wine, and he was visibly delighted. It had been ages since his last drink.
Rodrigo raised his glass, his expression earnest. "Today, our Scott family is honored to have Norah join us for dinner to express our gratitude for her role in rescuing Kayla in Sevaedda and for all the support she has provided our family. Moreover, since she is Sean's girlfriend, it's fitting that he introduces her to us. Norah, in every respect, the Scott family is indebted to you. Thank you very much."
After speaking, Rodrigo took a sip of his wine. "I haven't been involved in the Scott family's affairs for some time. My only hope is that you and Sean lead a harmonious and joyful life."
His comprehensive remarks touched Norah deeply. His words were genuinely comforting.
She lifted her glass and stood up. "Rodrigo, you're too gracious. Sean and I have been together for a while, and helping out is the least I could do. I hope you won't hold it against me for taking so long to visit."
Then’ she shared a drink with Rodrigo. The rich flavor of cedar filled her senses.
She glanced at Sean, noting the pride in his eyes and his handsome features.
It was touching that he remembered her fondness for cedar wine, a variety she hadn't enjoyed in quite some time.
Norah sat back down as Susanna and Phillip began sharing drinks with Rodrigo. Leaning closer to Sean, she whispered, looking at her wine glass. "Did you pick out this wine?"
Sean nodded. "I remember you like cedar wine. We have plenty stored in the wine cabinet, so I brought some out for today's banquet."
The Scott family indeed had a fine collection of wines.
"Are you worried I may leave you for another guy? Do you keep the cedar wine to tether me to your side?" Norah teased. Sean smiled. "Good wine should be enjoyed by those who truly appreciate it. Others might think cedar wine is just ordinary, but I know you have a discerning palate, Norah."
Norah laughed heartily and downed her glass in one gulp.
Kayla's culinary skills were remarkable. Each dish was a sensory delight, imbued with a subtle essence of family joy. The group ate, drank, and shared laughter freely.
The dinner was casual, with no strict adherence to table etiquette, fostering a harmonious atmosphere that gradually steered the conversation towards marriage.
Kayla glanced from Sean to Susanna. "Sean, as the older brother, you need to set the pace. Susanna wishes you to marry Norah soon."
Susanna and Phillip exchanged looks, their cheeks coloring. "Sean, you don't want me and Phillip to keep waiting, do you?"
Sean turned to Norah with a tender look. "I can't rush things, since I follow Norah's lead. We'll marry when she's ready."
Norah set down her fork, raising an eyebrow. "Is this a proposal?"
"Certainly not. How could I propose at such a casual gathering?" Sean shook his head.
Matteo laughed. "A Scott family proposal can't be so informal."
