Chapter: 183
Whitney's face tensed. "How do you know about that? Have you been spying on me?"
"Ms. Jones, please, no need for alarm. I'm here to make an offer. Kaitlin and I have some unfinished business. She took something very dear from me, and I'm seeking justice." Ashley's voice chilled as she spoke.
Whitney's initial suspicion eased, replaced by a flicker of empathy, as though she recognized a familiar pain. “Is Kaitlin really Like that?"
"I wouldn't lie about this. She trapped my ex-boyfriend by drugging him and taking advantage, just to have his baby. I was too soft, too forgiving; that's why she succeeded. Now, she has it all-a booming career and a man who loves her. It's more than I can stand!"
Ashley's bitterness resonated with Whitney, pulling her deeper into the conversation. “Why didn't you confront her sooner?"
“She's a master of deception. Haven't you seen it? She says one thing but does another, and men just seem to fall for her tricks.”
This revelation hit Whitney hard, igniting her fury. Ashley was correct. Kaitlin could deceive anyone with ease.
"Ms. Jones, our issues have nothing to do with you, but I'm eager to see that fucking bitch pay. I'll offer you a substantial amount of money. Even if it costs you your job, you'll have enough to live on comfortably. I just need a few favors from you."
The thought had already been tempting to Whitney, but the promise of a hefty reward clinched her decision. “It's not just about the money for me. I can't bear to watch someone destroy others’ happiness Like that. People like her need to be stopped!"
Ashley nodded. “I'm relieved you see it that way. Just avoid confronting her directly. She's skilled at charming people and merciless with her enemies. She could easily ruin you with a few clever moves."
Whitney scoffed, confidence brimming, "No need to worry about me. We're her client. She won't lay a hand on me unless she wants to jeopardize the project."
Ashley's smile broadened. “Excellent. Here's your advance. If you pull this off, there's more where that came from."
Whitney was astounded by the amount. Was this just the advance?
“This... This is too much. I can't accept all this.”
“Please, Ms. Jones, take it. Consider it a token of my appreciation. And if anything comes up, think of it as compensation."
Ashley's earnest tone left Whitney with no choice but to accept the money.
After Ashley's car pulled away, Whitney ascended the stairs, her mind teeming with plans for revenge.
In the car, Miguel couldn't help but comment. "Ashley, you're quite the performer."
Unruffled, Ashley simply smirked. “It's all about effective strategies, Miguel. Just make sure Alan doesn't connect any of this back to me."
Miguel scoffed, “Don't worry. Alan is swamped with corporate affairs and doesn't have the time to deal with your little schemes."
Having regained her strength, Beth had discreetly transferred some shares to him in a gesture of support.
The following morning, Whitney showed up at the Oasis Studio wearing a grimace.
Her demeanor was nothing new to the team, so they simply ignored it.
Surprisingly, Whitney strode directly into Kaitlin's office without knocking.
