Now that she had learnt Kaitlin's stance, Phoebe decided it was time to focus on work.

"Here's the invitation to the celebration dinner from Murphy Group. The collaboration has been well-received. We're invited," Phoebe said.

Kaitlin hesitated as she took the invitation.

“Though Murphy Group expects you to come, if you'd rather not, I can decline on your behalf and send someone else in your place," Phoebe continued.

Kaitlin shook her head and replied, "No, it's fine. After all, this partnership was offered by Murphy Group. It would be inappropriate for me not to go."

"Alright, I'll have Nora accompany you. She can assist you if you need anything.”

“Okay.”

Ashley was browsing the news online and was surprised to see that Alan had decided to hold a press conference to publicly support Kaitlin.

When she saw Alan on one knee in the video, envy twisted Ashley's face.

She stopped watching before the video ended and turned it off.

Seeking some privacy, she called Shawn.

It was obvious that Shawn didn't expect that Alan would use this method to clarify the rumors directly.

"Miss Willis, it seems that you are not very capable," he remarked.

Ashley gritted her teeth and said, "Mr. Murphy, Alan is investigating. I hope you can keep this under wraps for me."

Shawn responded with a cold huff, “You've botched things up and now you expect my help? Why should 1?"

“Mr. Murphy, this is just the start. Even if Kaitlin gets past this hurdle, if you help me now, I'll surely return the favor later. If Alan finds out about my involvement, it won't be good for either of us, right?"

On her own, Ashley couldn't withstand Alan's investigation. She needed an ally.

Shawn hesitated for a moment before agreeing. "Alright, I'll help you this time."

“Thank you, Mr. Murphy. I promise I won't disappoint you again,”

Ashley responded.

After ending the call, Shawn instructed his assistant to help Ashley in hiding the truth.

"Did you send the invitation to Kaitlin?" Shawn asked.

"Yes, Ms. Gilbert will be attending," the assistant replied.

Shawn said, “Organize the next steps. I plan to draw Kaitlin closer to me this time."
