Chapter: 271
“Understood, Mr. Murphy."
On the day of the celebration banquet, Kaitlin, accompanied by Nora, arrived early at the venue. Stepping out of the car, she was surprised to see Alan, who had come uninvited.
“Why are you here?" she asked in surprise.
"You were coming alone. I was concerned about you, so here I am,"
Alan replied.
The Hewitt Group had not been invited to the banquet.
If he hadn't been well-informed, Alan would have missed this event.
Nora blinked innocently.
Wasn't she enough of a companion?
"You're welcome to join, but remember, it's a celebratory banquet. Please don't cause any scenes," Kaitlin said seriously.
Perhaps it was the surprise proposal at the last press conference that had alarmed her.
She remained wary of Alan, concerned he might attempt something similar at such a large public event.
With a frown, Alan had no option but to agree.
Kaitlin presented the invitation. The greeter inspected it and then glanced at Alan with a hint of discomfort.
Alan was a well-known figure in Osewood.
However, the Hewitt Group's name was not on the guest list for the celebration banquet, making it awkward to let him in.
Alan spoke up as the greeter was thinking about what to say to make the refusal less abrupt.
“I am Kaitlin's boyfriend, and I'm here as her companion," he said.
The greeter paused momentarily. Kaitlin pursed her lips but ultimately vouched for Alan.
“Yes, this celebration is to honor our joint cooperation. It's only appropriate that I bring my boyfriend."
Upon hearing this, the greeter no longer objected and allowed them entry.
Once inside the reception area, Nora glanced around and whispered to Kaitlin, "Kaitlin, the Murphy Group has really gone all out. Such a high-class celebration, it's impressive."
Kaitlin nodded but remained silent. She turned to Alan. "Didn't Mr. Murphy invite you?"
Alan answered calmly, "No, he didn't."
