Chapter: 272
"It's quite unusual. With all the events in Osewood, who would dare not to invite the Hewitt Group?? Is there perhaps some misunderstanding or disagreement between you and Mr. Murphy?" Kaitlin asked, puzzled.
Recalling Shawn's tattoo, Alan chose not to elaborate. "Let's find a seat. It's still early."
Kaitlin agreed, and they found their seats.
Nora felt slightly awkward as the third wheel.
As more guests arrived, Nora seized the opportunity to greet several clients.
After Nora left, Kaitlin took a sip of her juice and surveyed the room.
There were many familiar faces here today. With Nora present, she preferred not to mingle with them.
Now she was getting lazier and lazier.
Several business leaders recognized Alan and approached to greet him.
Alan's responses were typically reserved, but these individuals were accustomed to his demeanor.
They greeted him politely, each hoping to secure some form of collaboration with him.
Alan glanced at the business leaders and said, “I'm sorry, but today is about Kaitlin, not business. Could you have my assistant schedule another time? Then we can discuss everything in detail.”
The group turned to Kaitlin, offered her pleasant greetings, and then dispersed.
When Kaitlin began to show signs of fatigue, the host of the celebration finally made his appearance.
Shawn entered, clad in a crisp white suit, the epitome of a gentleman.
He made his rounds greeting the guests before approaching Kaitlin.
Alan's expression hardened, a chill overtaking his demeanor.
Kaitlin, however, rose with a courteous smile. "Good evening, Mr. Murphy."
Shawn nodded at her and then cast a brief glance at Alan. "Mr. Hewitt, it's a great honor to welcome you tonight."
Alan's lips twitched slightly as he remained seated. “Flattering, but I'm here as Kaitlin's boyfriend, not the Hewitt Group.”
Shawn blinked away his irritation and turned to invite Kaitlin to join him in greeting the other guests.
Kaitlin accepted, and Shawn extended his arm, inviting her to Link with him.
The celebration was a joint effort between the Murphy Group and Oasis Studio-making their collaboration quite appropriate.
Kaitlin offered an awkward smile, catching the shift in Alan's mood.
