Chapter: 276
"Position some people at the door and others beneath the window. Make sure he doesn't escape," Alan directed.

He paused, then added, "Also, call the police. Tell them there's illegal gambling happening here."

Although unsure if anyone else was in the room with Owen, Alan knew the mention of gambling would prompt a swift police response.

Even without immediate evidence, the police could use the lead to arrest Owen.

Keeping him in prison was preferable to having him at large in Osewood.

This way, Alan wouldn't have to worry about Kaitlin's safety all the time.

Minutes later, police sirens echoed outside the hotel.

At this, Shawn raised an eyebrow. "Where's Owen?" he asked his assistant.

"Mr. Murphy, he should still be in the hotel. I advised him against leaving," the assistant responded.

Shawn clenched his jaw, his expression darkening. "Something's wrong. Go upstairs and check," he ordered.

As the assistant hurried off, Shawn paused, a thought striking him.

“Get Owen out of there as quickly as possible," he added urgently.

“and if anyone tries to stop you, act fast. But make sure you keep it discreet."

The assistant nodded and rushed away.

Shawn chose not to follow. He returned to the banquet instead to await further news.

He surmised that Alan's men had likely spotted Owen. Going to Owen now could lead him straight into a trap.

Alan had long been wary of Shawn's motives. If Owen were captured by Alan, the ramifications could be dire.

Though the sound of approaching sirens grew louder, Shawn remained confident. With his men nearby, confronting them could still yield a victory and change the game.

Just as Shawn had predicted, his men whisked Owen away minutes later.

By the time the police reached the hotel room, it was empty.

Shawn's assistant returned to the banquet shortly afterward. "Mr. Murphy, we've secured him," he murmured to Shawn.

Shawn swirled his wine, his eyes glinting with a harsh, unyielding light, yet he remained tense. He turned away slightly. "Proceed," he whispered back.

The assistant nodded and left to carry out further instructions.

Owen, having switched vehicles multiple times, finally shook off his pursuers.
