Chapter: 286
Investigating the project proved challenging, especially since Alan controlled the Hewitt Group.

Miguel had to exert considerable effort, eventually resorting to bribing a clerk on the project team to gain access to crucial information.

As Miguel listened to the assistant's report, his expression grew increasingly stern. “Have you found out anything about Ashley?" he asked sharply.

"Mr. Hewitt, Miss Willis has been in contact with Shawn Murphy, the CEO of Murphy Group recently. I suspect that..." the assistant began, but Miguel interrupted him.

“Are you just suspecting?" Miguel asked, his tone laced with dissatisfaction.

“Mr. Hewitt, while we lack concrete evidence, the interactions suggest that they are Likely to collaborate. As for their exact plans, I can't confirm," the assistant admitted reluctantly.

"Just as I thought." Miguel sneered. “Ashley is quite the busy bee.”

After a pause, he asked, "What do you know about Shawn Murphy?"

"Mr. Hewitt, all I know is that Mr. Murphy heads the overseas Murphy Group. He's well-known in the jewelry industry and has a considerable reputation. Beyond that, he's rather mysterious," the assistant explained.

“These are surface-level facts. I don't need you to tell me what anyone can find," Miguel retorted dismissively.

As his frustration boiled over, he shouted, "You loser! Get more detailed information, and fast!"

"I'm on it, Mr. Hewitt," the assistant hurriedly responded.

After dismissing the assistant, Miguel took a moment to collect himself before revisiting a project from ten years earlier.

This suburban project was one he had been involved in, though not in charge.

At the time, the Hewitt Group was led by his brother, Alan's father, who treated Miguel like a childish understudy rather than a serious participant.

Miguel was told he didn't have to take the project too seriously.

Despite his brother's dismissive attitude, Miguel had insisted on having a say in every decision.

His brother, honest and mild-mannered, only issued a few gentle reprimands.

However, Miguel continued to push his controversial ideas during the project.

He pretended to comply with his brother's instructions and actively sabotaged the project.

Now, reviewing the project file, Miguel realized he had been the actual decision-maker.

He smirked and closed the file.

Suddenly, it occurred to him that the partner involved had gone bankrupt following the project.

Was Ashley directed to dig into this old project?
