Chapter: 292
Kaitlin nodded in agreement and offered a polite smile.
“Mr. Gilbert, this is Kaitlin Gilbert, the judge of our design contest. Are you familiar with her work?"
Denton paused, his eyes widening slightly as he looked at Kaitlin.
She bore a striking resemblance to his mother!
Had Kaitlin not appeared so young, he might have mistaken her for his mother.
Was it a coincidence?
Denton's surprised look was evident, which puzzled Kaitlin.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Gilbert." Kaitlin initiated the interaction and extended her hand.
Only then did Denton regain his composure. He pushed aside the swirling emotions in his heart and shook hands with Kaitlin.
“Of course, I'm familiar with you, Kay. It's a pleasure to meet you."
Denton's smile flickered, his gaze still locked on Kaitlin's face.
The longer he stared, the more he was convinced of Kaitlin's resemblance to his mother.
Everyone around them was perceptive. Ernesto sensed the odd tension and discreetly moved away to welcome other guests.
Kaitlin smiled at him and was about to find a place to sit. Before she could say goodbye, Denton spoke up.
"Ms. Gilbert, where do you come from?"
Kaitlin, slightly taken aback, assumed he was making small talk and didn't think much of it. "I'm from Osewood."
“Have you always Lived in Osewood?"
Kaitlin found Denton's question a bit strange.
She thought it was perfectly normal to discuss the competition at a dinner party like this. However, talking about personal issues seemed a bit odd.
Yet, Kaitlin responded with a courteous smile. "Yes, aside from work trips and vacations, I mostly stay in Osewood."
Kaitlin picked up a glass of juice from the table and gestured with it towards Denton. "I need to find a place to sit. Excuse me."
This time, Denton did not follow. Kaitlin found a seat, took a sip of her juice, and scanned the room.
She recognized a few faces, but many were strangers.
Ernesto had his hands full at the social event, and his popularity was evident by the constant buzz of activity around him.
